Other old threads recommend Mercedes benz coolant. Is the MB coolant the light orange colour? The one I purchased is, is this dexcool, or just a colour MB chose for its house brand? The Porsche coolant I bought for a comparison is pink...worth a fortune, any reason why this stuff would be any better (or problematic)? Just want to make sure MB and others haven't moved to some formulations that are not good for my 1988 Mondial. Also, what is the typical life of a water pump bearing? The bearing in mine was replaced about 10,000kms ago. With belts to be done soon (about three years ago), wondering if this should be preventatively replaced - I use the car as daily driver in the summers in Toronto...
I just run the standard Prestone coolant with the Royal Purple coolant additive. My Mondial T loves it.
I got a gallon from BMW. It's ethylene glycolbased, does not contain nitrites or phosphate reducing the possibility oh harmfull deposit formation. It's design for cast iron, steel, and aluminum. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's my choice, 50:50 with distilled water. Do a search and you'll get a lot of info and arguments as to what is best. Jeff PS-probably more important how often you flush it and replace than the formulation you use-mine is done yearly.
