Another photo - you can see where the underside scrubbed the road on the bump. More photos of the crash site here: http://arbiter.pl/galeria/ferrari.crash Initial analysis says driver's side first. Apparently the driver didn't have his seatbelts on and this, ironically, probably saved him. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oh my , where to start . The Williams had a steering rack failure. Meaning that Senna couldnt turn no matter how smart he was. Yes its the combination of factors that will kill . But its not speed alone . You can be much more safe doing 250 kmh on the highway than doing 50 kmh on some of the roads i take to work with snow .. It all comes down to you judging when to speed or not .
I highly disagree about this beeing an unfortunate event, driving at 200 in a 50 and crashing is not suffering from bad luck. at least he crashed into a pillar instead into some innocent pedestrian/house/traffic
My prayers go out. Very sad indeed. From what menoy wrote, it sounds as though, that portion of road needs to be recontructed. Sounds like a dangerous place regardless of speed.
Thank you for this explanation, a very sad and unnecessary.I looked below your post and was surprised. I expected others to add their voice to this terrible waste of life, but no, some of us are more interested in debating the merits of driving fast on public roads and justifying our childish need for speed at any cost. Aryton Senna died on a race track. He was paid to do so and drove for a purpose. What is the purpose of "street racing"? What is the prize? What do you prove? Speed kills whether less likely on the Autobahn or more likely on a city street. If you want to kill yourself be my guest, but I have family and friends who don't deserve their lives being placed at risk because of someone's inability to control their immaturity. Best
Im not arguing Mr. Senna's case, the fact that speed was a major contributor to his death says it all. Im sure you're an excellent driver and all but please dont be arrogant enough to deny the fact that speeding in a public road or highway is dangerous! Not everyone that holds a license is actually capable of fully driving his/her car in an all out fashion! By the way, I have raced cars and motorbykes for as long as I can remeber, Im man enough to admit that "I am scared to death" of speeding on highways because the person in the next lane might be dumb enough to cross my path. Its not me speeding im worried about, its the drivers around me I dont trust!
Thanks for the comment. Would you mind contributing your expertise on the subject matter!? Look guys, Im not asking anyone NOT to drive their cars fast, Im merely pointing out the fact that: speeding in a public highway + one unforeseen obstacle = a disater waiting to happen! Good for you if you dont die in a 120mph crash, but please dont put innocent lives at stake just so you could satisfy your ego!
Im not sure speed was a major contributor to Senna's death , i think it was more the car failure and the horrible luck of the suspension arm going through his helmet. Speed was an aggravating factor. Speeding on the highway can be dangerous . I cant say its dangerous . I never speed when there are a lot of drivers around me . And there are plenty of empty highways to do it safely .
I would say that loosing control of that speed kills. Whether you're on a public road or the track, it's all about control. Cheers, JJ
I get your point about that (speeding on public roads = recipe to disaster) i just don't get your comment: "Tell that to Ayrton Senna!" .... so ... what that has anything to do with a 360 crash? i mean come on, he died on a race track under circumstances that still debatable (not like he randomly he lost control of his williams) ..... and among Fangio, Piquet, Prost, Mansell, Schumacher and few others he is considered one of the geniuses of motor sport racing of all time (if not the best), Senna is too much above comments like the one you made, but i do agree on the rest. Oscar PS: my prayers to the friend family ....
If I am on a 3 lane motorway at 7 in the morning and I see a straight part for 3 kms with no cars I am afraid it is too tempting and I will go over 200. This is not dangerous. If I do the same thing in rush hour it is possibly dangerous. So speeding on its own is not going to kill you if you are sensible enough to speed when you can. Speed limits are arbitrary and set by some numbskulls. I can go as fast as I want in germany but elsewhere not. Germany has a fatality record no worse than most western european countries. Please explain that to me.
No. Saying something is dangerous is saying that it is always dangerous. Saying smth CAN be dangerous, limits it to certain situations. +1!! I wonder if the Czech Rep. has the same problem as Poland - here it seems there's loads of places where speed limits seem to be artificially set too low. An attitude like that from the authorities leads to general disregard for laws and limits... things get ugly when the limits do have a legitimate reason.
Some years back I did exactly what you say you do and a deer ran onto the road. Reminded me of priorities. Best
How about the 5 kids that died a few weeks ago in Florida in the kids M5 BMW, maxing out on an airport runway at 4am with a car full of friends. What could go wrong. Ran out of room, lost control, fliped for a hundred feet into a 200 year old tree. All died. **** Happens, The speed is what causes the loss of control. When you loose control... your out of control. Its the speed.
No. What happened there was stupidity. 18 yo in a 500 Hp car at 4am after a party in a runway . You said it, he ran out of room but not before he ran out of wisdom.
You seriously dont believe that do you!? Thats like saying a murderer is not as dangerous if he had a nail file instead of a butcher's knife. C'mon!!! So anarchy is the answer!? There are reasons as to why the law is there, probably because of statements such as the ones you just made!
I agree!!! To add to that statement, any parent(s) that lets a teenager get a hold of such a machine (with or without permission) should be held liable!
