LOL, yeah get me in trouble now.

Well think about it. When did 74045 sell for $1.5? It's gotta me more than that now. Such a rare and significant car.

74045 currently asks $1.5m now by its current owner, but Im not sure what it sold for previously. Remember, the $1.5m is only an ask. But 74045 is also a one-and-only...

288 GTOs are in fact trading quietly/privately from $640k to $800k. So, even without any comp history, consider that Evos are much more rare (55 times more so if you wish to get technical)..

Right around this time on February 28 to be exact in 1984 the GTO was introduced at Geneva. There were two examples present chassis *50253* was on the Pininfarina stand. Over on the stand for the Swiss importer of Ferrari was a second GTO chassis *50255* on display. After the show *50255* went on tour. In May of 1984 the GTO arrived at the dealership Ferrari France-Charles Pozzi. At that time the GTO still wore the special rear license plate that simply read 'G T O' outlined in white letters. What was the fate of *50255* after it's show days were over?

    Charles,

Here is the aforementined "50255", the 8th GTO built, but the 2nd production (non-prototype) car. It lives in an Italian collection, or did when this image was taken not long ago....

This GTO Evoluzione with the vented wheel covers was in several periodicals at the time doing extensive testing (I will have to dig out what I have archived and scan for you...).

In fact two model makers have made models to celebrate the car. Here is the one by Cavallino...

Thanks for the great pictures of 50255 there Joe! You can see where the rear deck above the engine was modified from the Geneva show configuration. It was about the time frame of the GTO production when the factory started to keep a few production cars for their museum collection, correct?

Yes indeed. I expect the factory car is only a few numbers from 50255, but I will personally have the opportunty to determine that for myself in a month or so!

An endless parade of pictures can be seen here of special cars. However the GTO rainy track picture has to be one of the most evocative; in quite some time!

    Rick,

Is there any way you could post some candid photos of your EVO? It would be a rare set of photographs indeed!

I am new to Ferrari Chat, have owned many Ferraris (still own a couple) and I apologize in advance for jumping into this thread with what may be a few naive questions. 1. Does anyone have access to a list of the serial numbers for the 288 GTO's? 2. Does anyone have access to a list of the US 288 GTO's? I know two of the people previously mentioned in this thread (Dick Fritz and Dick Merritt), so if there is no formal list, maybe they could help put one together. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
