Obviously on FERRARIchat you picked the 360. My question is WHY? I'm starting to tilt toward the G car: more horsepower, newer technology, flashier, etc in the $140's +/- 10K range. Why did you pick the 360 over the lambo? I plan to use as a daily driver 4miiles daily, garage to garage in neighborhood where lambos and F cars are a-plenty. Appreciate input from each and every F chat member. PS could not find anything in "search".

I was between the two as well...went back and forth for a variety of reaons and chose the 360:

-I wanted a spider for less than 150k...not yet possible in the Gallardo
-I prefered the F1 to the E-Gear...esp at start up
-In some ways I see the Gallardo as the next step up from the 360 (b/c of the reaons you mentioned) so I figured the 360 would be a good starting point
-The 360 interior was much nicer IMO and much roomier. The trunk is also large enough to pack up and go to Vegas/Sedona/San Diego/LA for the weekend

I just went through the same questioning process. Ended up choosing the 360 because of style. Just looks so much better to me.

Go Gallardo since it is not a Stradale you are looking at, a dark color (black or dark gray) Gallardo over a standard 360 coupe anytime...

I made the switch from 360 to Gallardo. The G is definitely a step up from the 360. I put roughly half my miles on the track so this is the perspective I use to assess the car. Much faster, better brakes. A much more modern interior. Audi is the industry standard for interior fit and finish and that is what you get with a gallardo. The interior of the G is a less spacious than the 360 but at 6' 4" I still fit easily. The front end lift system is fantastic for driveway clearance. The best part though is not having to grab your ankles every three years to get your belts done. The 360 was a great car, mine was lowered and corner balanced and drove beautifully on the track. But I haven't once regretted making the switch.

I am a Formula 1 and open wheels racing fan. Lamborghini makes pretty cars with shocking, in your face design. But to me, they're more show-off machines than race-inspired, real "driver's" cars. "Hey, look at me in my ___________ (lime green, bright orange, pearl yellow, etc) Lamborghini!" There is not any true racing heritage there. Which is OK, if that's what you like. I have always held Ferrari to be the pinnacle of automotive performance and excellence -- racing-derived road cars sold to bank-role the factory racing projects. Often imitated, but never equaled or surpassed. Ferrari SpA could sell 15000 units per year or more, but they choose to build and sell much less to maintain exclusivity. If I want comfort and technology like air conditioned seats and back-up cameras, I would drive my wife's new Lexus. Those luxuries like AWD affect performance in terms of added weight, so Lamborghinis need all that power to be somewhat competitive. Ferrari, for the most part, combines the most beautifully-engineered symphonies and sculptured art in a medium you can drive fast and race, if desired. There are so many intangibles that make Ferrari the easy choice.

With that being said, The Countach was my favorite car... when I was 15 years old.

Whatever your choice, it's not a decision to be stressed over. Consider yourself lucky that you live in a country where such a decision is even possible for you.

    Good luck.

    - Joe

Very different cars in looks and driving. Drive both then decide. I have only spent 1 hour in a Gallardo and over 3 years in a 360. The Lambo drives much heavies where the Ferrari is very nimble. The 360 has a roomier interior. Both are very quick. The Gallardo will draw more attention. The 360 should depreciate slower.

They are so different that one drive should tell you.

4 miles each way to work? What's the point in either car? The oil won't even be up to temperature. I am very much in favor of an exotic as a daily, but this honestly seems silly. Drive a beater to work, and save the good car for when you have to go more like 6 miles.

I dont currently own, nor have i ever owned either car, but i personally would go with the Gallardo for 2 reasons. It sounds AMAZING, and it looks as good as it sounds. Good luck with your decision!

That black G car picutred above is very striking. The 360 has better lines that the G car, so perhaps a darker color is better for the G. It hides some of the blunt lines.

I sold my 360 Spider and almost bought a Gallardo to replace it. Instead I bought a Stradale over the Gallardo. I know that is not what you are asking...but given that its in the 360 family..it might be worth pointing out. If I were in your shoes to chose between a reg 360 Coupe and a Gallardo, I would take the Gallardo too. The downsides to the Gallardo for me is that I am a bit too tall to fit. At 6'3 im a bit uncomfortable. In general I think as amazing as the Gallardo looks, It's interior is downright boring. I think zooming about in one is a deceptive and sterile experience. The Gallardo is fast..but there is no real rush to the speed you get. In contrast mash the trottle in say an F40 and lets the Turbos kick in..well..thats a rush.

Thanks. Still haven't quite figured out how to use the search function. How exactly did you phrase it - I put in "gallardo" and got too many threads.

LOL. You are right, but this is what happened. I was thinking about stepping up to a 997TT for my daily driver; then I thought, for this price range I may as well get something more exotic. Plus I have a few bucks to spend right now, which I won't have in a year or two (wife wants another baby). I feel like if I don't get an exotic now, I probably never will. I'll probably get a beater for when it rains.

I probably should go to the nearest exotic rental company and try both out. I know this is stupid, but somehow I can't get myself to plunk down 2 grand to rent for one day!

Hmmmm. My CS sounds pretty good. Or were you referring to the stereo? I that case you do have a point -- the Gallardo's radio does sound better.

I went from a 360 to a G and am very happy. The lambo is just crazier, faster, brakes better, looks cooler and sounds amazing with the LOC exhaust that I put on it. After about 2 years of owning the 360 it got to be like driving a really nice car, whereas the lambo never gets normal.

Actually i did same thing, i just had to filter the threads manually by finding the names 360 versus Gallardo....:)

I think whatever you chose, it will be a fun. I just personally do not like shape of Gallardo, on the other hand its maybe from technical point of view better than 360. I have currently 360 and i am very happy with the car. However considering future it might happen i would change it (definitely not this year) and my choice would be Lambo as well. But only Murci - thats for me real Lambo coming from Countach and Diablo....
