Thanks Joe, Jas.........and the others for chiming in and posting pictures as well.

I'm not looking for "LOUD" as most would think of it. I think........and my wife and neighbors think these things are loud enough.
I have the valves disconnected on one CS and the other one I left alone. Although there are times that the "louder" one is fun...........I actually prefer the stock set up as I can modulate "loud" if I want to..............plus sneak out of the neighborhood early in the morning without waking everyone up :)

Again thanks to "everyone" for their thoughts. Much sincere appreciation.

I have the factory cats and the Tubi LM. Not loud at all...wish it was louder.
My only complaint with the Tubi LM pipes was the fitment..PITA to install.

I ordered a pair of Hyper-Flow cats and will be installing them next week...Their flanges are adjustable. :)

That was the clincher for me!

Going for coffee on a sunday morning in the F40... Heaven on earth. The caffiene is actually a sedative after the drive! :D :D :D

Where is 512TeaAre? I'm surprised he isn't in here saying how lucky the Euro spec guys are to have cars with no cats that are designed that way LOL.

512 Tea Are has taken a moderator-imposed vacation and has used the time off to mount another assault upon Mount Everest. Estimates are that he will reach the summit in early April and will be back with us in May.

Some later Eu cars came supplied with cats (slightly different from the USA-spec emissions system) to meet the Transportation Department requirements for the country to which they were destined.

I have a 92 F40 with cats which was originally delivered in Italy. Most of the Euro 91's and 92's orignally were fitted with cats. A lot of owners had them removed. However some countries are now requiring them to be reinstalled if they were originally fitted. Ferrari Classiche will also not certify the car unless you reinstall the original system.

Some counties in Europe begining in the early 90's had to have cats, I do not think Italy was one of them. As you said, many removed them, and retuned.

But as far as I know in Europe there was always a choice, cats, or no cats for the most part.

Just based on my (little) experience, this is what I noticed when we speak about "Ferrari noise":
    - 1997 550 maranello with Tubi exhaust, nice in a tunnel, but too noisy for a 500 km trip, so my last 575 is still equipped with genuine exhaust,
    - 1990 F40 with Tubi (no cats) exhaust, nice sound, but to be considered as "normal" due to turbo effect,
    - 360 stradale: nice, and certainly the best "sound" on race position,
    - F40 LM GTE, strait pipes, LM Tubi exhaust, nice sound, even inferior to stradale (again due to turbo effect) excepting after 7 000 rpm, but I was ejected from a simili race track during a week end near Paris! Local golf club owner was also the owner of the land where the track is built, he was not supporting my car.

I have had the idea for quite some time to take a Stradale removing the CATs, and putting a Tubi racing exhaust on it. IMO it would be a mindblowing driving experience, but one that may land a few more tickets thank miles I would guess. :)
