IMHO it says it all - business is "diversified financials", I think a few folk are starting to find out what 'diversified' means...going to be a few bank balances 'diversifed' into smithereens methinks.

Interesting chat with an 'old timer' stockbroker recently who just laughed about current P/E, apparently the rule of thumb used to be 8 for good buying so according to hime there's still room to go down.

 

they will be a $100 plus stock, its all about timing. some things you cannot help such as the credit crunch, the fundamentals are all still there and for a company structured the way macquarie is they have done fairly well to hold up to the level they have. They did the same thing in the early 2000s when they halved thier price from 40 to 20 i think, when people were saying their investment model is flawed etc and that it wouldnt work. suffice to say 6 years later you would have made five times your money potentially..

well...guess what the value of anything is?

personally, i'd rather buy it now than when it was $60+...and if it goes down to $40, then i'd have preferred it then.

just look at the graph...it was always going to go down.

as kerrari said.....p/e of 8 is where it's at now...there's room to go down.
