Hey All - Someone put new yellow fender stickers on my Mondial at some point, but I took them off over the weekend (they were poorly applied). I have 2 new ones, but I'm actually not sure I should put them on. I did a google search for pictures of Mondials but they either don't have them, or they do.. Does anyone know if they came w/them originally? I like it either way, with or without, it's more a curiosity thing to me. I don't need a car that screams "they I'm a Ferrari look at me" so if they're not on there, it's cool too. Thoughts / suggestions? Jim
Here, I think it is a matter of taste. I am 99% sure they are NOT an original option. I believe the shields are for racing, but if YOU like them, why not? BTW, nice Mondial. If you are going to have a black bumper Mondi, can't go wrong with a black or very dark blue car. Best colors for the 82-85, IMO.
I do not believe the stickers or any shields came on any 308/328 series car, including the Mondial. I have some Yoshi shields, but have yet to put them on the car. My car came with sticker shields on it and I asked the previous owner to take them off prior to me getting the car. Now, as far as putting them on, its an owner's preference kinda thing. Many people do indeed have them on a 308/328, and many people like them. However, its not original OEM, so its up to you if you like the look. Maybe you could check the showroom section or maybe search for VTC's contest thread. Lots of pictures of different cars in those threads and maybe you can find a Mondial that an owner has put the shields on. James in Denver
Hi Jim, I do not think they came with them. The fender badges were applied later on super cars (F40 / F50 etc) or as an added option on 360's and several others. Mondials, 308's, 328's did not come with them. FYI, if you are going to do it (its a personal preference), real shields look a lot better. Yoshi has them (search the site) and there are others available. They are not all the same however. Expect to spend about $270+ = set that looks correct. Just in my opinion the steel/ cloissone badges look the best and most real as in comparison to stickers. Before I got my steel badges, I used stickers too to see if I like the look. Except I put a regular magnets under them (photo magnets available at any arts and crafts store, you can get a 8x10 sheet an dcut it to the shape of the sticker). i could take the shiled off whenever I washed the car and it gave the the choice of taking them off or putting them on as I felt. I have a set on my 308 that I put and like the look. For me it looks right. Not everyone agrees and that's cool, too. Its your choice.
I picked up a pair of magnetic shields for under $50 and I'm quite pleased with the look. Image Unavailable, Please Login
No, Mondialas never came with with the badge but here's another one with it. It looks kind of nice with the badge though. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hmmm.. yeah I had a feeling they didn't come w/them. What are these steel badges you speak of? I have the right stickers already but steel ones seem pretty cool. I also like the magnet idea - very cool. I like the look, but for now I'll run w/out them... By "run" I mean stare at my Mondial w/no interior in my garage.. haha.. yay winter! Thanks!! Jim

No car pre 355 Fiorano came with fender shields, and after that they were an option on pretty much everything. For the Mondial, the yoshi shields will fit all models EXCEPT the t as the fenders are completely different. Dave
this is not entirely accurate and has been discussed to death. The 288 and the F40 both had them. James, The bubble stickers look better than just the plain flat magnet ones. If you want a great alternative to gluing them on your car try applying the adhesive back magnet sheets to the back of your bubble stickers and trim them to the shape. It looks great and can be removed safely from the car if you don't want them on. That way you aren't stuck with having to glue them.
I guess its purely a matter of taste. I have them on my car and I think they look great. Original No but does it really matter?
Not original, but I like them. Get magnetic ones...and you are all set for when a concours judge accosts you in the shopping center parking lot.
eerrr hummm, I've NEVER been accosted in the shopping center parking lot by a concours judge LOL James in Denver
You guys are crackin' me up.. Maybe I'll go the magnet route, and put them on a different spot on the car each time I drive it..
Yes it is, and guess what? He's still a Pizza dude and he's waiting for his new 308 QV to arrive any day this week now
As others have said, it's a matter of tastes. I actually put the metal cloisonne badges on mine. I like the look. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I like 'em on my car. Yellow and red go well together. If you ever don't want them on simply take them off.
The factory never put them on any Mondial/3X8. In every case it was someone else. It looks pretty good though
Thanks fellas. I think, well, screw it. I'm going to slap some magnetic shields on my 308 even if it's not standard oem. I think they look good. How do you know exactly how to place them? Do they scratch the paint eventually?
http://www.yoshield.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=3 I put Yoshi's on my Mondial T and have removed them. They DO dress it up, but felt awkward when I knew they were not stock. Only pleased the non-ferrari owners who like to see bling. Yoshi's site has the placement of shields in terms of measurements. ping him http://www.ferrarichat.com/ferrariads/showproduct.php?product=69&cat=all he is out of the country a lot, but does respond well when on his game. The metal ones are far superior to those ebay things. Image Unavailable, Please Login
