    weird/dumb question...
Based on your experiences, if I remove the seatbelt ECU's, mouse motors, etc from my car, but leave all the wiring & pigtails intact...
would that have any adverse effects on any of the other electrical or electronic systems?

I only ask because as goofy and dumb as the wiring is in this car, i'm worried about the possible presence of floating ground circuits and perhaps some overly engineered series circuits etc. I dont have any schematics or wiring diagrams to refer too.

Why remove all of it? Mine has been "idle" for years with no adverse reaction.

COOL! That would be great and much appreciated Mike!

Mine are disabled too, by way of the connector under the seat. I'm actually getting into an exciting project with the car this weekend, and it involves finally eliminating the stupid mouse system permanantely. I figured I would take everything out and lose a few pounds, and perhaps even try to recoup a few bux from the project by selling the parts... ;) ;)

    SWEET! a bonus!

Ok, i'm confused on this... in the course of removing all this stuff, I discovered that the shoulder belts have an electronic "gear-lock" solenoid inside that releases the belt. The solenoid is powered by the ECU, so if the ECU is unplugged or loses power, the shoulder belts are locked and cannot be pulled out.

So umm, Jason... are you not using your shoulder belts?

I disconnected the pin switch in the door that activates the mouse motors....there are 2 of them in the door jam....one operates the door light and the other operates the seat belt motors...I disconnect the seat belt motor on the passenger side (driver side motor didnt work anyway) and used the stationary seatbelt belt connection to hook the seat belt into...

Cool! or you can just disconnect the 2-pin connector under each seat and that disables the entire system.

Yes, if the ECU's are unplugged, you shouldnt be able to pull the shoulder belts down. They will still retract, but if your ECU's are disconnected, and you are in fact able to pull them down, then I would definitely check them. Just put your belts on, and abruptly jerk down on the belt and see if the centrifugal cam locks the belt... that function is actually mechanical, not electrical.
If everything seems ok, then I suspect that just your lockout solenoids are bad, but that wont jeopardize your safety. Based on logic alone, I suspect that the solenoid lockout function only exists as an indicator that there is a problem with your mouse system.
