I have been watching the ebay F50 "http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1995-FERRARI-F50-EXTRAORDINARY-COLLECTOR-CAR_W0QQitemZ200201529175QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item200201529175" for a few months now and i know a few topics have been started on it, but seeing how long its been sitting at the dealer and now raising the price by another $50,000 seemed a little odd to me. any thoughts / comments?

i believe i remember seeing an enzo / 288gto / f40 / f50 set on another dealer website with the same asking price of 985,000 for the F50, maybe trying to get rid of competition and create a "new" market price?

I think all of these dealers are trying to hyperinflate the market

They are aware of the ever growing population of trust fund babies and entertainers who don't "feel" the value of the dollar as a hardworking business person would, and these people are willing to pay astronomical prices to get these rare beauties.

Part of my reasoning behind this relates to people I/my family knows, 2 in particular, who are each worth over $100 million yet they live in modest homes (4,000-7,000 sq ft) and drive modest vehicles. Then there are the people we know who are worth $50 mil and live in a 20,000 + sq ft home. The difference - the modest people worked hard for everything they got, and the others just live off of their legacy

Just one way of looking at it

speaking of lucky sperm club kids, a friend just inherited 7 million. I told him to by a 360. He'd make that off interest in a few months.. and to think i'd have to work 50 years @ 140k to make that. BEFORE TAXES

    Not all.

Some call it like it is and ask sellers to price the car according to economic circumstances and the actual selling-price market...

I agree. Not sure what his motivation is to increase the price. It obviously didn't sell at $935k so raising the price is a strange move.

Could just be playing the market like real estate agents do/did. If the house sits on the market for a while unsold at one price.............take it off...........bring it back on as a new listing at a higher price. I've heard of this working. Not sure in a market such as this, but probably thought it was worth a try.

I can't figure that either. $985,000 is EUR644,000. You can buy my Euro F50 today for EUR385,000.
Undoubtedly in the USA, the price is getting ramped up, on the back of what mystifies me.

Whenever you make unequivocal statements like this, you should probably finish with "IMVHO"
There are a lot of people who need this suffix at the end of the statements, most obviously some dealers on this site. Prices for rare and difficult-to-find hyperexotics are really a subject only for specific buyers and sellers. There is no large pool of sales of F50's in recent months to allow anyone to determine a comparable value based on sales. If you opine on a price make it clear that is is an opinion, otherwise people may start asking for your credentials that allow you to be so specific. Even if you were involved in a sale all you can is what your specific transaction brought as a price. Feel free to opine ad nauseum if you wish. Just say it's an opinion.
Oh, and in my opinion, the car is question is an awful car - a bastardized Euro version that has painted engines bits, embroidered seats and all sorts of other abominations. For all of those reasons I believe, IMVHO that it is now an unsellable dog at any price.

From what I was told (this does not mean it's right) the F50 is a US car, although I was also told it was once a twin-turbo. People may be confusing cars. Who knows.
I'd actually be interested to know for sure if it's a Euro, since I was told by 3-4 people that it was a US, when I was offered the collection before MG bought it.

Not sure what's up - frustration or dollar deflation.
Jim Lyons usually prices his Fcars aggressively and they sell (the Silver 550 Barchetta he sold in just a few weeks time had sat at LA Auto Car gallery for ages and Jim dropped it just $5k).

Many F50's are coming up on the dreaded "10 year tank bladder replacement" which seems to be a 5 digit expense and I don't see that this F50 has had this done.

Can sniping software take it up $180K, at the last minute????

Hmmm. guess not.......not exactly a feeding frenzy...

Joe, not many of these in the market, how does this "offer' look against other known recent deals???
Are F50s really more than this $800,100. now?
