The only good odds bets here seem to me Kovailainen at 10 to 1, Rosberg at 51 to 1. And Williams at 41 to 1. Piquet Jr and Rosberg at equal odds ? Step away from the crack pipe.
Massa's in the right car. The difference in skill levels between him and Kimi are marginal. The rest is racers luck. I'll take that bet.
marginal differences? this coming from the same crowd that said Kimi would destroy his car--that Ferrari needed to build him a 'tank'. 'kimi is hard on the equipment, blah, blah, blah!
Thats because he is.....Just last week it was reported (cant remember who, maybe Lauda) that Kimi's didadvantage is his lack of interest. He hardly ever tests. He only tests when he has to.
Ted, That's a good bet (IMO) - I think you will do well on it It seems you and I are the only ones who put our $$ where our mouth is. I've tried to get 3 people to bet now but nobody has taken me up on it. I figure it must be the economy slowing, because I'm sure it would never be anything to do with people saying things that they aren't ready to back up with a friendly wager!
sure, he was sooooo hard on his car that he broke it regularly in '07, and didn't win the WDC because of that. all the early gripes prior to last season...blaming Kimi because his cars kept breaking back with McLaren...'oh no, he's going to break his Ferrari', Blah! and all the BS about his testing attitude. bullocks! so long as he is an effective communicator with his engineers when it matters, and they ultimately get the car to his liking, who gives a rats a@@ how little he tests, and if he enjoys it a la Shumi or not???
considering his times when he does test are pretty much always faster than massa's or badoer's, IMO I agree that's a non issue. The scuderia uses kimi (and schumi) as as benchmark testers for aero/mechanical developments. Mclaren built $h!t cars prior to them getting their hands on the Scuderia Ferrari F1 Bible.
I normally dont gamble and was thinking a smaller more "friendly" amount like $10. Once had money in one of those points deals for a Superbowl. After awhile I stopped watching the game and just followed the points. The most un-enjoyable Superbowl ever. I'm not particularly a Massa fan just think 5.5 to 1 is generous. Of course this is all hypothetical. PM me.
5.5: to 1 is generous?? I agree but not for the reasons you think, I think Massa ought to be 15:1 AT BEST. I will wager any amount you wish, $10 or $10,000 at 5.5:1. Let's make it $100 to keep it honest.
You are aware that McLaren won 7 WCC and 9 WDCs long before 2007, are you not? you are aware that McLaren won 10 GPs in 2005, are you not? This statement qualifies as teh most ridiculous statement of 2008 (thus far)
Right, Kimi left McLaren because they built him a car that was too reliable... 2005: The F2005 wasn't quick enough that year, Ferrari out; McLaren was fastest, but not reliable (didn't he have 3 DNF's while leading?), Renault was fast enough & the car didn't break, Alonso won. 2004: Kimi finishes 2 out of first 7 races because of engine failures... pre 2004: who's talking about that? IMO,(as it now appears Ferrari and McLaren again have the quickest cars,) this year's championship will be won by the team that builds the better "long-life" gearbox.
Where do you get that Kimi doesn't like to test? He even said himself earlier this year that he couldn't wait to get back into the car as he's really enjoying himself at Ferrari and working with the team. I believe he even said it feels like "home." The comment on Kimi's lack of interest was regarding his level of enjoyment. When he's not enjoying himself his interest goes down. I don't think we've got to worry about that this year. Also I'm willing to bet Kimi's thrown down as many if not more testing miles as Massa in preseason testing. He can't test any more than what the team schedules him to test and the team is limited in the number of miles they're allowed to test.
Ok, I’ve gone to PitPass and totaled up the number of days and laps Massa and Kimi have done in testing. Now remember the number of laps done is controlled by the team and sometimes the drivers aren’t able to complete a days worth of testing due to the car breaking down. Driver…..No. Days Testing…..Total Laps tested since 1/1/2008 Massa……….13…………………......1,021 Kimi………....15…………….....…….1,174 Kimi was also the driver to first shakedown the new 2008 car. To say that Kimi doesn’t like to test is conjecture at best. Kimi has been testing more since the beginning of the year than Massa has. This is simply more unfounded rhetoric from many here much like the “McLaren only did well because they used Ferrari’s brakes” which is also totally unfounded and I still have yet to receive any proof. Thank god for Luca testing? He's only tested 3 days and totaled 211 laps. Stop posting BS! It just muddies the waters.
THANK YOU! i don't know where the attitude comes from... the bias, all the bs, the self owned projected beliefs...ie "he's not a team player... he hates testing, etc, etc" all because his personality doesn't exactly fit inline with what "I" expect, which is ideally Shumi like. Good god, he needs to be replaced, as he's nothing but a detriment in how he operates. stop it now, PUHLEEEEAAASE!!!
Ahh but that was because they wanted the #2 driver in the car to wring out the bugs before they let the top man drive it!
LOL! Great post. No need to worry about such inconveniences as facts around here when you can simply spout inanities.
Last time I checked the number on Kimi's car is the number 1, because as I recall he kicked everyone's @$$ (when his car was working) including a Mr. Massa. Of course you must be referring to Michael Schumacher though.
