I can now confirm, seeing as the money is in the bank, that my 2nd F40 is now officially sold. The good news is that it sold to a fellow AZ F car afficianado and the car will continue to show up at our local events. The F50 is on its way to a fabulous car show on the other side of the planet, along with the 275GTB and it too (the F50) is headed for sale at the Maranello auction in May after the show. It took a lot for me to make the decision to sell these fabulous cars, and they are being sold in a good cause, along with the Gullwing and 300SL Roadster which are already gone. If the ultimate objective of all this maneuvering comes to pass you will be the first know right here on Fchat. I cry myself to sleep at night, murmuring the mantra "Quality is better than quantity". If I say it enough I may believe it one day.
More garage space to wax the paint on the soft curves of the metal flanks of your new car. Time to look at the empty spaces your F's resided and feel sharp and chronic pangs of longing and regret.
Tough choices Alex, but ultimately I think you will be very, very happy with your plan ! Looking forward to the travels, its going to be a great time.
Good words to live by. Best of luck with your new plans. I'm sure I speak for most of us who will anxiously await what you add to your collection now.
Must have been hard to let it go ! Anyone has any idea as to what is going to replace all these special cars ? SWB ? Cali Spider ?
Alex, the resolve must be huge. Can't wait to see the reward you have planned for this incredible sacrifice!
very nice... I don't know much about the classics.. what are the 3 next to the F50...? ~shahedc . Image Unavailable, Please Login
Does the 410 SuperAmerica have anything in common with the 575M Superamerica? Obviously it didn't have the fancy flipping roof, but was there a reason for using the "Superamerica" name on both these models? ~shahedc .
Heritage I guess. The same reason they re-used GTO for the 288 GTO, Testa Rossa for the Testarossa, Mondial for the Mondial. Re-living the great days from the 50s and 60s
I'm sure its tough letting go such amazing cars but whatever is on the way will give you just as much pleasure if not more Congrats on the sale and looking forward to seeing whats on the way!!
Thanks for all the info! I wonder if the new owner will post here with a new thread.. "F40 BOUGHT !!!" ~shahedc .
