IMO, Alonshole is gonna have a bad year but not because of his team but due to the no TC rule. I think he relied way to much on TC in the past on a lot of his passes and think this year he will be in the kitty litter more often. They had TC last year and how many times did we see him push it to far and do some extreme 4x4ing? I just wish they would keep a lid on comments like that though, talk like that can come back to haunt you.
I think that's a pretty safe bet. Neither of the Ferrari's or the McLarens would have to be reliable in order for that to happen. Then Renault would also have to beat, BMW, Williams and maybe RedBull and Toyota in the very tight best of the rest category. That fight alone should make this season a good one to watch. The P2 and P1 qualifying should be a real dog fight.
You gotta be kidding he his a 2 x WDC and you can't say that was due to having TC.. Your words may haunt you!! that bit of your statement I agree though.
I know he can drive but I still think he relied on TC way to much.... How many times did we see him make a wide pass that he could of only done with TC? I think he will also run more people off the track, but this year he will have done it on accident due to the lack of TC.
He is not in the position he was last year, he was driving a winning car, but was in the unfortunate position of having a rookie driver that was more than his match, I would imagine that this added pressure was more a factor in him making errors. If he would have been given #1 status I believe he would have bagged the title..IMO. Not long now till we find out eh..
Supposedly he has an out-clause in his contract that is based on the non-performance of the team. I wonder if he holds back a bit this year (knowing that he is too far away for a WC) in order to be free to walk in 2009?
Perhaps he relied on it so much because it was available to him, and that is just how he felt most comfortable when driving with traction control. Didn't Michael Schumacher drive with TC on a near-maximum setting? FA will impress in his sub-par Renault this year for sure, but he won't be in contention for the title. I wouldn't be surprised if 06 was his last title.
Alonso is an honorable man and will back with full force any team he commits to. I'm now going to go puke.
I probably dislike Alonso personally more than just about anyone on this site, and even I admit he's a great driver and I don't think he will be hampered too much by TC. Going around someone on the outside is not really a TC phenomenon, rather it's pretty much all driver. The TC lets them mash the gas without fear of spinning out. The traction limits of the car don't change, TC just removes the potential of a spin-out due to too much gas. I think Alonso will do fine without TC. I think Kimi will shine without it, and Massa will falter. Just my opinion though. I think several drivers will be shown up a bit, and I'd put DC in that list, as well as some others. I think Hamilton, Kimi, Alonso (ugh), Button and some of the other smooth drivers will do very well without it. Sato... he may surprise us with his non-TC skill or he may just turn into a projectile on the track - we shall see
+1 Hamilton and Button will do just fine. I think Webber could be a surprise too, judging by what I've read of his smoothness in testing without TC. Massa is in for a long season, he will be lucky to match last year's finish of 4th inthe WDC this year
Alonso already wrote off his own chances and said Ferrari would win. So Ferrari is admitting Alonso is right.
How come Alonso (note: no, hole in it) is so quick to leave Reanult all the time? He get's a winning car (if he sticks it out with them), #1 status, and flavio would pretty much sleep with him if he had boobs. So i don't see what the problem is if he can make renault winner's why leave?
Actually Massa has been sandbagging and in reality has been doing a lot of practice in his go-kart in the back yard to get ready for the season. He called me today at work to pass on the message for all you naysayers to kiss his nads and not come grovelling back when he's winning. I told him to stop bugging me at work and not to lie to my assistant telling her he's "Michael Schumacher" just so I'd pick up. Oh I did find out that Kimi is really bummed about no Traction control in 08 as the TC knob was where he hung his luck bottle opener for the in flight liquid entertainment. Go Ferrari..........
My jaw dropped so far after reading the first line of your post that my gum fell on the floor... but then I read the second line and smiled. Except now I have to go get another piece of gum.
Michael Schumacher did the exact same thing in 1996. He went so far as to exercise a clause to terminate his Benetton contract a year earlier, claiming that the rumors of cheating in 19944 tarnished his image. Why don't you go ask him?
Seems to me the headline has more meat on it than the actual storyline. Both of them were complimentary towards FA and merely stated the obvious, all very pc.
Oh, hang on, let me go get his number....Am i supposed to know this answer? Because i onlyy recently (past 2-3 years) have been watching f1. So please enlighten me with your knowledge. I'm thinking it has something to do with race pedigree?
If your knowledge of F1 history is so limited, then perhaps you should do a little bit of research before you post.
I don't recall ever hearing about that being the case regarding his exit from Benetton. Any web sites you could point to that refer to it?
But not so important as making ridiculous posts on an F1 thread? I don't know about you but most people take the time to learn a little bit about a subject before commenting on it...
