After pulling my hair out trying to get CSS/Javascript to work properly in as many different browsers as possible, I finally finished my new photography site last night at 2am. I'd love to get some feedback (especially if you have any technical problems with the site!).

Man I do not miss building websites AT ALL! Thanks in advance.

Couple of things right off. On the portfolio page the top thumbnail has a missing image and the last thumbnail only loads a partial image. Whatever is loading in the main window takes way too long to load. I waited two to three minutes and nothing was loaded, seemed like it was caught in a continuos loop. The design is nice, very tasteful.

It may be our server, but none of the images load for me.

Does it work for you, Mark?

Shoot... I'm really sorry guys. I had some code in there to block directory browsing, and the gallery thought that file was supposed to be an image.

If you have another few seconds, please try once more.

Thanks for the feedback so far!

Great presentation and appearance. Needs more examples of your work. Maybe more architecture for the real estate clients you solicit.

It might just be me but I am not a huge fan of black backgrounds on sites, yours is one of the better ones I have seen but I think white gives a much cleaner, brighter look. Other than that it looks great and everything worked for me. (I am on Safari if your keeping track)

Thanks again for the great feedback everyone.

I agree that I need more photos for the portfolio. I just recently decided to really put in the effort with the photography thing (still just a hobby, but I enjoy it enough to pursue it). This weekend I have two shoots lined up, and hopefully more in the next few weeks. Once I start getting some better photos, I'll start bumping the not-so-good ones.

And about the black background - I agree with you about 95% of the time. For whatever reason though, I just really liked it for this site. For me at least, the black background really made the photos stand out. Oh, and thanks for the browser compatibility check - I spent probably 20-30 hours getting the CSS/Javascript to look correct in FireFox and IE, so it's good to know it works in Safari, too.

Pretty sweet. The black background does go with it, it keeps the theme going. What's the ideal amount of photos you want on each section on the left hand side?

I don't really know - that's a good question. The preview area fits five at a time, and I think if I had more than, say, 7-8, I'd have to let people know how many there were total. Having to scroll without knowing the total number of photos is a bit confusing in my opinion. Any thoughts?

Yea thats why i was wondering. You know, just make it user friendly that they wouldnt realize they were flipping through all these photos. Just to make sure it's user friendly.

Plus you want them not to think about how many photos they've seen. Just draw them in. (artistic terms) get them lost in the images. ha. :)

How about a simple counter underneath the photo.

1 of x, and so on.

Oh, and I'm on Firefox 2.

I would make the text larger. Increase font size on the pages that you have plenty of space for. Such as about us and services. I am using ie. My mom would have trouble reading it.
I really like how clicking on portfolio makes the three choices appear, classy.

Interesting suggestion - thanks. May I ask what resolution you're looking at the site with? I am running 1600x1200 and thought it looked OK, but there are so many configurations it helps to know what it looks like on other setups. And thanks for the compliment. :)

If it matters I am looking at it with a 1440x900 resolution and it looks fine.
