i decided to change out my rubber brake hoses with a set of goodridge hoses, kit #27002 which was marked "ferrari 328 gtb/gts g-stop kit" on the package. after loosening the hard line connection at the lr wheel i proceeded to remove the metal spring keeper mounting the assembly to the frame. after i pulled the rubber hose back thru the frame mounting tab, i compared it to the new stainless hose. immediately i noticed there was no way to attach the clip to the hose end as the clip would not fit the groove o.d.and the groove for the clip was within the frame tab hole...essentially no way to fix the stainless/hard line connection to the frame. goodrige provides no alternate fastening means. i stopped work and reattached the existing lines back together, thinking rather pessimistically that there might be another problem lurking that i could not easily back away from, or worse destroy something. has anyone tried this kit on their 328 and if so, what was the outcome? did the flarred connections work ok? do the 2 copper crush washers provided get used on the front brakes? would appreciate any comments from 328 owners. thanks
I'm not sure if it's the same as on a euro 308, but when i replaced my rubber lines for Goodridge, the spring clip was not reused, but the new lines came with a threaded outer end and nut to fix the line to the frame. Worked fine.
I replaced my brake lines on our 308QV a few years back with a set of Goodridge SS hoses. I too had the threaded end with a nut to secure them to the mounting tab. Easy install and no need to use the crush washers.
I too have problem with the Goodridge brake line for my 88 328. The brake lines are two inch too short and would not even reach the caliper. Image Unavailable, Please Login
well, after a phone call to tire rack (the vendors) and to goodridge usa, i was informed that "you need jamb nuts to secure the hoses to the chasis". goodridge promptly sent them out with an apology. everything fits and all seems right with the world.
Were all of your new stainless hoses in the kit properly sized? Did the lengths of stainless hose provided equal the OEM lengths?
once the jamb nuts arrived, i once again compared lengths of hoses to existing and confirmed that invertedflares / threadpitches all matched. no other issues. as some of you have observed, it's nearly impossible to tighten the jamb nut once the hardline connections are made. i thought a crow's foot would work but there's not enough "swing" radius to tighten effectively. i ended up fabing a flat spanner, bent over, i could then tighten the nut. the ferrari "clip" method is my preference but how in the world could you get goodridge to cooperate? probably a propietary thing anyhow.
The 1988.5 brake hoses are same as the 1989 ABS brakes hoses, I ordered the ABS stainless hose from a ebay UK seller and they are a perfect fit. Now I have one extra set of stainless hose for early 1988.
