I found this 456 on Ebay. Nice price and I would LOVE TO HAVE a red 456... This one with so few miles seems NOT to be in very good condition. Lots of pitting and dirt that should have been handled in a good detail job... Maybe it would clean up, but I always figure if a car with this few miles on it is this dirty you must wonder how the mechanicals are. The price is right! $65k! Hope someone here gets it and makes it all nice and then sells it to me cheap in a few years! ;)

F456 is one of the most beautiful 2+2 seats GT from Maranello. Sources said the drivers of this gorgeous machine are usually upper 40. It is rarely found in RED, mostly in conservative colors like blue, black, silver, etc. Therefore, red or yellow 456 is kind of "love it or hate it" car.

Seller w/ poor feedback. Dashboard near the airbag is warp. No mention of service history or vehicle conditions.

Yea, I saw the massive warping there. I do like it in read though. It is just a beautiful car. LOVE the 456. From an earlier post, by the time I can afford it I will be in my mid/upper 40's. 46 is the target really. That gives me a couple of years.

I looked at it on ebay and also noticed that the hood around the driver's side (left) headlamp does not seem to align perfectly; also the "disegnio de Pininfarina" logo and surrounding area looks like there has been some paint work, although it could just be the photography. Does the carfax check out?

Personally I would take a 456 in navy blue or green. But I'm not sure about this red

Looks nice, but something's wrong with the gated shifter; looks weird.

For those uninterested in finding the auction by yourself, here's a link:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-456-1999-Fully-Serviced-Ferrari-456MGTA-With-16K-miles_W0QQitemZ190205838198QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item190205838198

    It's eBay auction number 190205838198, VIN ZFFWP50A0X0115849, and s/n 115849.

Oddly, while the seller (Auto Sport Group in Delray, Florida) does have one negative feedback out of relatively few feedbacks in the last year, that negative feedback came as a buyer, not a seller.

I own a 456 GT and I have looked at many before buying mine.
The pax. side airbag is something that I have never seen fitting properly: it goes from so-so to real poor and in my opinion it is something one needs to get adjusted to it, unless you try to improve the fitting in conjunction with a service to the air bag.
The front bumper fascia is also something that can be adjusted, but it takes patience and more than 2 hands.
The gate shifter looks weird because it is not a gateshifter: the car is an automatic.
Otherwise, IMO the car looks pretty good in red and the interior appears to be in pretty good shape.
    The price is fair too.

I was also surprised by how well it looked (at least in the photographs) in red. Most reviewers say that the rosso corso doesn't work well on such a large vehicle. If the PPI checks out, it's a fair deal.

As far as the fit of the passenger airbag, my car's been an exception, I guess. The cuoio dash is still smooth and perfect; it's the rear parcel shelf that has the wrinkles.

This car auction has timed out, but I went to their site and did not see it. I first saw this car on E-Bay a few days ago and went to their site where I saw another red 456 (a 1999 with 16K+ miles) for $75,000. So why is a 2000 with 11K+ only $63,500 (not the $65K mentioned above)? Like most people on this post I had never seen a red 456 either and was really impressed with the looks. The 1999 is more in line with normal 456 pricing, if not just a little bit low. If I were really interested in buying the 2000, I would get the best PPI money could buy and make sure that window fit is inspected in detail. Incidentally, I have found that when I want to get more information on an E-Bay car offered by a dealer, I go to their site directly through my browser, not through E-Bay. Sometimes dealers have two sets of information, E-Bay customers and others. About 30-40% of the time you can find out how much they are asking for the car off the lot.

I just looked at the site and checked the vin of the two cars on ebay: same car, both 1999s, different price. I think they first listed it as a 2000, but revised it as the plate clearly shows a March, 1999 manufacture date.

why the $$ diff: Usually priced correctly for what you get, I suspect the cosmetics are key. However, both are low enough to express probable issues. Be prepared to spend about $3-5K off the bat.

First, they auctioned it on Ebay for $63k BIN to gauge interest; soon after, canceled the auction and is now advertising it for $75k and entertain "best offer". Here is the new ad.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190205637577&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_ReBay_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT&refitem=190205838198&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=CategoryProximity&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget&_trksid=p284.m183&_trkparms=its%3DS%252BI%252BSS

Perhaps, it's just me but this is a first sign of dealing w/ people who are less than on the up-and-up.......One thing for sure, regardless of price; for a vehicle like this, one MUST do a complete PPI with strong emphasis on the engine train and transmission integrity

    My favorite movie!

Agree this dealer selling it sounds like the classic scum used car sales group! That said, I would like to be an up and up exotic car dealer...I just need to find a way to buy them cheap so I can actually make a living selling them...

The problem is not buying them cheap. The problem is selling them so you get your purchase price and all the $$ spent on repairs back ;-)

LOL! Yea, that is right too. My thought was to sell them not having done any work on them and not having driven them more than a few hundred miles or so. Same problem though either way!
