Ya know, I've never seen a GT4 in the Banner here on FCHAT? What gives? Are we in the GT4 Mafia being slighted? Is Fchat anti-GT4? Does anyone have an explaination for this Henious Atrosity?????

    Cheers! :D

gt4's are the ugly ducklings of the Ferrari family, same DNA sure, but they got hit with the ugly stick. Their only purpose is to provide a steping stone into the world of Ferrari on a budget. At least that is how it worked out for me. :)

yes there is a lot of sarcasm in there! ;)

A neighbor of mine who has a 1969 Porsche 912 walked over to introduce himself the other day. Said "i've never seen a real 308 in person..did see one of those ugly ones a few years ago though". I was stunned that he said that as i totally disagree. I think he felt my dislike for his statement as he kinda tried to revise what he'd said as we talked.

To each his own but the 308GT4 is beautiful. It's like a design excercise starring the trapezoid. Love how dash wraps around you too.

I think it is one of the most original ferrari designs and still classy. Apparently it also has the best handling of the 308 series. The US versions lose it a bit, but a euro version has a great subtle blend of stratos and countach about it.

If anyone has a really good euro for sale I am interested.

Next you'll want a Mondial on the banner. It's a slippery slope.

edit... Nevermind, just saw a Mondial.

    Yep, thats one ugly car.
I mean come on; look at the picture below. Hurts your eyes doesn't it?
If I ever tried to sell it I'd probably have to pay some guy to take it away.

I bought my GT4 because it's a Bertone car not because it was a Ferrari - in fact being a Ferrari is a bit of a pain in the ass due to the over inflated parts and services prices. Personally wouldn't have any of the classic Pininfarini classic cars as I feel they look a little too dated. Bertone fans love the angular shapes of all Bertone's cars (well maybe some are ugly) and don't forget the GT4 set the way for the GTS/B ;)

Sorry GTS/B owners, but I feel the popularity and coverage of these models kind of detracts from their heritage and makes them no more unusual than a vw bus of the F-world - ooow.

I'd have the full range of Bertone's if I could, well maybe not the "Bertone 127 Village" ;)

Look, each to their own and we're all in the same gang afterall :)

Yes, I'd like to see a nice early euro GT4 in the banner too.

......and by the way I sent Rob a GT4 graphic with the background removed for banner use a year ago. He said they had just made a bunch of new banners but he'd pass it along to the graphic guy.

The "jet fighter" dash is the best part of the GT4 IMHO.

    Wish my Mondial had it!

    Cheers

Another example of the better car not selling due to being too practical for a "Ferrari". Plus not labelling it as a Ferrari hurt it's sales. This generated the bad press and then the rest had trouble moving off the lot.

By the time the 308GTB came along many had got over the fact that real Ferraris don't need to have V12 engines, and ofcourse the GTB was sufficiently poor in packaging to be impractical, and probably had more wow factor in it's looks. Time will tell which is the better looking but it would not surprise me to find in 50 years time the GT4 has aged more gracefully.

The 308GT4 was far more of a successful a design than the Mondial IMO ... just people were not ready. I own an Alfa Romeo 1750GTV also designed by Bertone and thus would love to have a GT4 share the garage with it!

I know everyone in the world has something in thier lives they are ignorant of, and for me it was the GT/4. I dont know how it slipped past me reading R&T over the years, Hemmings on occasion, etc., but I never seen one. Then I got on the F-list and there was Tom Reynolds waxing poetic about "Mario". I was like "what the hell kind of Ferrari 308 is THAT!". Well okay, its not a Ferrari, its a Dino, and not the Fiat version. So now we all know the story, and all 308's are actually Dino's that were rebadged Ferrari. I cant wait for the day to see one in person.

Aaaaaaa... I've always been under the impression that it is actually Ferrari themselves who are "anti-GT4"!!

    ...just razzing you, Dino...
