Almost like looking in the mirror.....ok maybe a carnival mirror where everything looks the same except the wheels get bigger!

Now, now, it was one of the toughest decisions he ever made, but had no other choice.

But at least the car went to a good home and the current owner is taking great care of it.

Isn't it amazing - how many people don't connect the name "Dino", with the man, Enzo (God like in the automotive world) and the greatest loss in his life - his son, Dino.

If I owned a GT4, there is no way I would sell it now - knowing what the winds of change can and will bring. (hello - 246:)

With respect to Enzo & Dino -

    Hank

I think the 914 owner had one heck of a nerve to make a comment about a GT4.
His 914 with a type 412 VW bus engine, was a Porsche co-designed car with a French design company for VW.
When the VW CEO died, the new CEO killed the project and Porsche bought back the design. Same thing with the 924(audi truck engine and audi gear box).
The 914 was badged as a VW-Porsche in europe and as a Porsche in the USA with Porsche badges added at the dealer.. Then Porsche put in a 2.0 911/6cyl for 2 years(914-6 with Porsche wheel bolt pattern). But it is still a VW.
The Dino is and always will be a Ferrari.

Everyone thought I had a Lotus back in the day. :( Luckly the guy that bought it in late 1989 knew it was a Ferrari, right before the F-car market imploded. :D

With an airdam up front, GTS/GTB tail lights instead of the parts-bin looking units back there, and seats that don't look like they came out of a 1960's hipster's house, the gt4 would be the best styled Ferrari/Dino introduced in the 1970's.

    Have to totally agree there!

    Audi made a truck?

I have to agree there! I've only seen 1 other in my area. Though I think there is one in the Seattle area?

    Cheers!

Well, not sure about that... the 308 GTB/S and Boxer are gorgeous. But those cars are probably among the all-time sports car icons, so you could argue the GT4 was a pretty girl with the misfortune of graduating with Naomi Watts and Uma Thurman in her class.

I agree the GT4 is a handsome car, and that some parts-bin bits (and one of the most inexcusable U.S.-safety bumper conversions perpetrated by Europe...) mar what is otherwise a good design.

I'm sure you've all seen it, but Top Gear did their $10K '70s Supercar special a few years back, and Hammond's yellow GT4 looked (and ran) the best by a wide margin, while the poor Maserati Merak and Lamborghini Uracco really looked like they should have stayed in 1975.

Dont hold your breath, the styling (and apparently the sound) of the 246 is what the people are paying for not the name Dino. A GT4 is a neat car but not the pinacle of styling.

The 246 is super sexy and I have allways and allways will love them! The GT4 is a pinical of styling and function too, just in a different way! Coming out just after the 246 certainly did not help the GT4 thats for sure!

    Cheers!

    I love the GT4.

    gonna get me one someday.

In the mean time, in recognition of the beauty of the car, I have submitted this photo to rob for the header. No guarantees, but cross your fingers.

He was referring to that OTHER 308 that was designed by pininfarina, right?

When I first joined the Ferrarilist, Tom's continued writings about Mario were so inspiring. Of all the guys in the world who flat deserved a Ferrari, if based on nothing but pure enthusiasm, Tom should have one. Selling off his little car was hard on a lot more people than him, because he inspired so many others.

I can honestly say that Tom's detailed stories about Mario are what, more than anything else, showed me that I too could own one. And that car should ALWAYS have the name Mario attached to it, they are inseperable.
