The Miura from the sexy swinging sixties.

The Countach from the psychedelic seventies.

But, the Miura was the real ground breaking benchmark car for a whole host of reasons...

Valentino told me a couple of hours ago that this isn't the time to retire. His retirement is just a rumor.

    Yes.

He has also told others including myself that he IS retiring.

In fact there are two events coming up in California later this year that are dedicated to his 40 years at Lamborghini plus the fact that he was finally retiring from Lamborghini.

Maybe the man changed his mind.

Maybe he will change his mind again...

Maybe he doesnt want any attention till he retires...

Yet still, I have been invited to both events, and will celebrate the man, retirement or not.

Valentino just e-mailed me and said maybe he will retire.

    But maybe he wont.

Its all in the "maybe" ...

He is clearly not losing any sleep over it, nor should we :)

If Valentino relaxes any more he will fall asleep at the wheel :)

I never saw anyone so relaxed at 170mph :-0

Someone corrected a post the other day suggesting that like the Norwegian Blue, the ZN 75 has ceased to exist - was an ex lambo as it were.

This might not be a bad thing to most miura enthusiasts as it cloaked a much nicer and original car.

However I must ask just how far is the new owner of the car formerly known as the ZN 75 going in his "de-creation" of the car modified for the I.Z.L.R.O?

My lambo library suggests the car had solid replacement parts (not just painted originals) fitted externally for bumpers, headlight surrounds, wheel arch trims, hood, carburettor stacks, manifolds and exhaust, sump cover and engine ancillary housings & inside the car all the switches, door handles, bezels, handbrake lever and even steering wheel were similarly replaced with solid zinc parts.

Were the originals retained at the time or are these items having to be replaced?

I have heard it said the car was coated in some form of paint/zinc mix and a lot of sheet lead was used for soundproofing - and no doubt slowing the car down some.

Is it all going in the trash?

Does the new owner have an allergy to Zinc?

Haha. Very thoughtful, witty (and well-researched) post. I was very proud of facilitating the first million-dollar Lamborghini deal, but Im torn as to whether it should back to the way it existed for just a year-and-a-half of its 40 year life. It is famous as the "Zinc Miura".... and it really was all zinc, down to the world's only set of zinc 40IDL downdraught carburettors specially cast for ILZRO by Weber - unlimited budgets afford that sort of thing. The steering wheel spokes were zinc, the shift knob was zinc, the switches were zinc.......$200k was spent in 1969, about $5 million today? Goodyear even cast a set of Polgyglas GT tires with zinc-based cores :) You can get anything made if you really want to, and Nuccio Bertone personally worked on re-designing all the fixtures & fittings.

The Brussel-guise fittings were sold off and ended up at Bill's (GT Car Parts). Unsuspecting P400 owners probably have bits of Brussels showcar on their Miuras as we speak...

Interesting. What's that for? Is that the system where they measure you entire car so if it gets stolen it can be identified exactly or in an accident it can be repaired to exactly the before incident shape?

Its a program that allows you to do a design study of actual cars, presumably one that model-makers put to good use...

Nice job all these guys are sharing about their passion concerning 3D modelling !

Wyatt Turner showed his work on the Miura modelling through a tutorial in 2003.

They've created a 3D modelling community under their web site 3Dvault.net

    :)

As I recall, all-white were for Italy & Switzerland. This particular car was a Lebanon (Beruit) destined car, although the first owner chose to collect it in London...
