Are bluetooth ear piece now enforce by law for 2008 when driving in California?
For some reason I think it goes into effect in June? I just picked up the jawbone, it is the ferrari of ear pieces I rarely talk when driving, though. I also just considered getting a wired one so I don't have to worry about charging the piece every so often
I have a Motorola 700 that I really like, it's comfortable, weighs nothing, is plenty loud and gets decent battery life. I also have a full OEM bluetooth hands free that I retrofitted into my BMW, it's fantastic.
it is July 1st start date...I have had a myriad of hands free solutions but Jawbone seems to work best although the backround noice canceler doesn't work in the wind just like any of the other ones.
How is the fit? I have also been thinking about purchasing one but have read that for many people it is difficult to get the jawbone to sit properly.
It comes with 4 different ear buds and 4 different ear pieces to make a better fit. Mine seems to fit fine... If you are worried, it might be a good idea to get it from a local place with good return policy
So I guess this is official now? Are ear phones mandatory as of the 1st of March not July 1st.? http://www.prweb.com/pdfdownload/536238/pr.pdf
Spoke with my brother in law which is a CHP in California. He says Hands free doesn't mean "speaker" function. They have been instructed to pull you over if they cannot see an ear piece. Want to be pulled over and then explain to the police that you were on speaker phone? what do you think the outcome to that will be...?
How would one know you're on the "speakerphone" vs talking to yourself vs micro BT earpiece? The DMV page says speakerphone is legal, I think that it's illegal to hold the phone in your hand while using it in speaker mode.
Our Audi Q7 has built in Bluetooth, which my fiance uses all the time. It would be stupid for CHP to pull over people just because they dont see a earpiece. There are many cars with built in bluetooth, the sound plays thru the radio speakers and there is a bult in mic. I cant see CHP wasting their time like that.
Exactly. Hands free means hands free. You just can't be holding the phone and talking into it. Put it down and talk on speaker. I don't think that the CHP will be spending much time on this. I think that the ones who will get caught are the ones that deserve to get caught. You know who I'm talking about. The ones who drive like they are drunk. They are weaving and are driving slow or going fast, then slow, then fast again and when you finally pass them they are blabbing on their cell phone.
