In preparation of the release of the new Gran Turismo............... Where are the best deals to be found on new consoles? I've seen 40, 60, and 80GB versions................what can I not do on the 40GB version?
The 40 gig model DOES NOT have any backwards compatibility with PlayStation 1 or 2 systems, older 60 gig systems have backwards compatibility but the newer one have limited compatibility and the 80 gig is like the newer 60 gig systems.
Do you know if any games require more memory than 40GBs? Or can I play any game I want with the 40GB system?
Dan, I have the 40GB Version. I believe all games will be able to be played and saved on the 40GB one. There are ways to upgrade your Hard Drive if you do end up needing more memory. Unless you decide to download a lot of HD movies/videos, your entire music library, pictures, etc... you should be fine. The wireless browser works great for me (if you have a wireless router) and I really couldn't be happier. I love the fact that it is a Blu Ray Player and you are able to update that, along with the system, for free as updates become available. The lack of Backwards capability does not bother me much but I did keep my PS2 hooked up. I have played my PS2 zero times since I got my PS3.
They are slated to have a 120GB version coming out... hopefully soon. Also, you can connect up a USB drive to the PS3 and store movies there.
No you wont have any issues with the 40 gig at all, the only thing is it cant play PlayStation 1 or 2 games. If you plan you use the PS3 for a media center "video, pictures, music and later a DVR" you can also upgrade the hard drive very easily, it just uses a standard laptop hard drive, I put a 200 gig drive in mine.
Does anyone have any problems with no usb ports in the back on the 40GB? It's a small detail, but I don't want something sticking out so far, that it annoys me.
Dan, see if you can find any new old stock 60 gbs laying around anywhere. I am sure some retailer still has one sitting around willing to unload. The nice thing about a PS3 is that you arn't stuck to just buying Sony items. The hard drive is a laptop hard drive. The wireless headsets are blue-tooth. The operating system, you can put Linux on (or so I hear). Anyways, I would buy any PS3 besides the 40gb one as thats the base and dosnt have the full functionality as the others. Hope all is well Dan! Yeah not only that but I think they don't have the ports on the front, under the lid?
Well, I forgot about this post, but I purchased a 40GB ps3, and the usb ports are under the front lid, I'm using a 4 port hub and put it in the back so it is hidden.
does anyone have hte logitech G25? I've really been thinking about getting it since i have the G15 keyboard, and the G9 mouse. http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/gaming/playstation_3/devices/131&cl=us,en looks awesome, and the clutch actually works [with some games] it should work with the PS3 too, i've heard.
I'm running it on my PS3 with Formula One Championship. I've also used it for the Gran Tourismo 5 demos. My only criticism is that I had to do a minor disassembly/reassembly to address a sticking upshift gear paddle. Force Feeback isn't available on PS3, but I've read that is an IP issue that Sony has addressed, so it should be coming in some games..
It actually does have force feedback with the G25. I'm also running F1 championship on the PS3. All you have to do is turn it on in the menu. Overall i love the G25 (along with the Bob Earl VRC), the only gripe i have is that the brake pedal lacks a bit of feel. Other than that it's fantastic. Now i'm off to pick up my copy of GT5 prologue....
Dual Shock 3? It's been out in stores for a while. Edit: Oh, I don't know if its out in the UK though. Edit2: It should be out, if not import or buy from yesasia.
check the video games section http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=266384 demo out. jap out in march, usa mid 2010.
Crazy how long it's taking. I'm waiting for it so I can finally buy a PS3. No matter, the longer it takes, the cheaper PS3 will get.
