Anyone planning on driving up on the Friday before the race?
I was going to head up with my dad, but I have finals that week. I think he'll just head up with some of his friends.
Per our usual schedule, we'll be driving up Thursday and staying until Monday - my wife will be visiting friends and family in Montreal. Odd this year there are still many hotel vacancies though the W wants $899 per night so we'll be finding alternative accommodations this year.
ill be driving up on thursday and staying till monday. I got seats at senna grandstand 12, looking foward to joining the caravan thats driving up.
I'm heading up Friday afternoon/night staying 'till Sunday with a crew from here. Reservations at the Marriott. Prices are up this year Did it last year in the Mazda, this year in the 308 if she's up for it.
I Was looking for "W" reservations and found they were sold out - where did you get the info from please? Thanks.
What are considered the best seats for the event - I may be there with my young sons and want the best experience for them. Thanks.
Best seats 1st time for the event are at the hairpin at section 15 and 24. I believe all the local dealerships buy tickets at these sections. Last year we witnessed 1st hand Robert Kubica crashing spectacularly. Just remember to bring ear plugs for the young ones as the v8's are violently loud.
The W does have rms available but are blocking them out. I got my suite there this year and last from a close friend who's vp of Corporate Development at Starwood. Rates for a Mega Rm run 1k usd per night.
I've stayed there before for the GP weekends so have been on the list when they have blocked rooms that become available - as was the case this time. I'm partial to Grand Stand 11 as it gives a decent POV for the start and into the Senna Turn, usually some good actions there as there is also the run off area into the turn where aborted passes end up; have been there for a few years. If they're young, bring ear plugs! I'm forbidden from bringing my two year old daughter until she's much older on the wife's orders...
