I think it's odd he lost it there, he had already made the turn. There must be a mechanical reason for the spin. If not then put Massa in the "STUPID KENT" category {< Said with an English accent}
Massa does the best he can. He puts out 100% all the time. Everyones max output is differant and Massa may not be the best. He has a huge heart and you cant ask for more. Where you get off calling him a "turd" is beyond me. Yet you would rather have a completely self centered egomaniac called Alonshole drive for Ferrari. You and the other senna in here are the type that think that the end justifies the means. Only in this case, Alonshole driving for Ferrari would not even have a good end to justify the means. I have said it before.....You will never ever see Alonshole in a Ferrari. There is no doubt in my mind that no matter who the other driver was for Ferrari that the two of you would never be satisfied. Its almost worth seeing Alonshole in Massas car just to show you how he could destroy another team. By the way......He seems to just be floating around the track in the first 2 races. Nothing spectacular has he done. He has only gained position on track through attrition. Today he was beaten soundly by 2 mid pack drivers in lesser cars, Trulli and Weber. Where is this great racer you have been talking about? Oh maybe he only races when he is in a top car.
Vettel. I read this on Thursday. It's rumors for now but where there's smoke there's fire. http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns20141.html
Probably he reads Ferrarichat and wants to avoid the flak. Now seriously: Kimi struggled in the first half of the season and we still are in the second GP of this season. Massa still has time for improvement, maybe not to be WDC material, but enough to support Kimi this season. And 2009 will be another story.
Don't you think he would have retired in a more accepting fashion if something failed? Unless he wasn't aware of it ...
here we go... excuses. EVERY DRIVER in F1 is supposed to give 100%! Should Massa be in that car simply on merit? F$@^$ NO! He simply cannot race. He is not being paid to 'give it his best' and that is all that matters. puhleeeeease! and btw, that Toyota is not a lesser car than the Renault, and the Red Bull is getting competitive.... please no more excuses for Massa, no more deflecting criticism...
No, I just got laid low last night and recovering. Domencali said he didn't know what happened. I think it was driver's error, Massa lost it. Maybe I am older than most of you, I've been to many races, F1 included since the 1970's. I've seen many a future champion make multiple mistakes, I use Scheckter as an example. He wrecked many cars on his way to the top, I heard the same outcries from those that thought they knew more than the team principles. I remember watching Mario trash the Lotus during Canadian GP practice at Mosport the year he lost the WDC. Both went on to win the WDC. Did anyone hear McLaren fans suggest that Lewis Hamilton be replaced because he threw away his chance to win the WDC by unceremoniously beaching his car? Face it, Lewis had the championship in his pocket and lost it, but the team rallyed around him and supported him. I remember the outcries by some of you last year about Kimi's lack of performance for the first 2/3 of the season, expecially when he hit the wall in Monaco. I am heading to a friend's for dinner, so I don't have time to embelish this list, but any of you that have been around will know that mistakes happen. Raikknonen made two similar mistakes last week to Massa's one. Now they are even. Raikkonen will make more mistakes this season as will Massa. Why? When you are pushing hard to win, you are on the edge, statistically its going to happen to anyone. If Kimi had spun would everyone here bashing Massa today be bashing Kimi? I am certain the percentage of complaints today would drop by 75% Bottom line Massa saved the team's reputation the entire first half of the season. I know the team has confidence in him, and from what I understand of his personality, he will come back trying even harder. He is anything but arrogant, especially for a Latino. And the replacements some of you mention! Vettel? He is even greener than Massa, and he ran into his teammate's car last year. Alonso? You are fooling yourself if you think that Kimi would be OK with Alonso. You apparently have not read Ron Dennis' comments about the mutual friction between Kimi and JPM. The day of two WDC's on the same team are behind us. I must admit, I am really impressed with Alonso this year in that crap Renault. The car is much worse than Alonso is making it appear. So no, I have not changed my mind about Massa, there is no reason to do so at this time. And I do not take any of the absolutely silly comments here on FChat seriously, it is just amateur armchair quarterbacking. No, Ferrari will not dump him. Yes, I am disappointed there was not a Ferrari 1-2, and I am disappointed that Massa made this mistake. But no more disappointed than when Kimi lost it twice last week. I give them both credit for really trying. Raikkonen/Massa, they are still the best cohesive team on the grid.
you are ridiculously predictable, it's bordering on sad buddy. really. always making excuses, and turning the matter into a matter about other drivers! in your rant, you conveniently gloss over EVERYTHING, and always come back to your big gun: 'team principles know it all' , and that we are just idiots here, wait, dumb f#%$, as you put it recently. i kinda feel bad for you, you simply cannot admit/accept that your Shumassa religion is wacky... no driver aides this year has exposed your golden boy for what he is, and it's not even close to being an equal #1 driver as you so emphatically claim. blah, blah, blah....
Lewis was in his ROOKIE YEAR!!!! He also spent most of that year out pacing, and beating FERNANDO ALONSO!!!! That is a completely different situation that Massa, who has YEARS more experience and has been lacking in his performances. You are full of it on this point.
I'm pretty disappointed in Massa, he can be ridiculously quick but when it comes to the race for some reason he just can't get his head around it. If he throws the car off the road a couple more times and costs the team more points I could see him not finishing out the season.
He should have taken the 8 points, was there nothing wrong with the car????????????, He did that deliberately, if that is so, just b/c loosing to Kimi??? then I am afraid to say he behaved like a COWARD, but this is hard to believe for a Massa Fan like me Why he won't continue the race & makes him contender for the title??? MASSA YOU STILL CAN DO IT, THERES STILL A LOT OF TIME C'MON Kimi, Congrats
Clearly if it was an ongoing problem the car would have been twitchy or he would have pitted. He was much more likely to spin when he was closer to the turn, with the wheels turn awaiting power. He might have lost it on his own but at "where" he lost it, there might be a mechanical reason as well.
sure, there was a mechanical failure that cause his spin in Melbourne at the start too! there's no need to reach for any explanations other that driver error. he has loooong history of doing this sort of thing. the WCC is done for this year.
Although his inconsistency leaves a lot to be desired he does sometimes shine... IMO this battle was one of the highlights of the previous season. And it's in the rain. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N13gFowP0u4
I think Aus was his fault, I just don't know why Massa would lose it at the spot where he did. Like I said it's possible he's at fault but I won't be surprised if a reason is found.
Looks like Massa is owning up to the second DNF of the season to. "On lap 31, I clipped the kerb at the exit to Turn 6 and hit it quite hard and then I lost the rear end going into the next corner. We have to check to see if the impact with the kerb damaged the car. It's a real shame because we could have brought home a one-two finish."
You're kidding right? Both of the driver forced the other one off the track twice. It was totally unsafe and a year long ban would have been the course I would have chosen.
