Seems like I've seen a lot of different curb weight figures for 355s that range from 29XX lbs to 31XX lbs. I think Ferrari's website lists 2900 and change, but I've seen others that are higher. Anyone care to offer an opinion? Thanks!

The GTS would have to weigh more even by a pound or two over the GTB

is that with the maximum occupants and luggage, or without? The GTB feels closer to 2900 lbs, but I'm no expert.

Mine was built in Nov., 1994. My manual says curb weight is 1,475 Kg (3,251 lb). Carfolio.com says 1994 F355 Kerb Weight is 1350 Kg (2976 lb). Quite a disparity. ???

I weighed my F355 spider with a full tank of fuel @ 6.3 lbs per gallon and about 60+ lbs of stereo stuff. It came in at a whopping 3400 lbs :(. More than my old 993TT @ 3350lbs....

My '97 355CH weights 3069 lbs. of course this car has had the weight reduction program as per Ferrari race specs. I did add road tires(the race slicks were lighter) to it and a set of door panels vs. the aluminum door coverings, that might have totaled 50 additional lbs. Hope that helps.

Thanks for all the replies! Is a car's curb weight always the dry weight of the vehicle?

In general, the US version of weight is dry weight - nothing in the car. No fluids, no driver, no add-ons, zip. In Europe, they have another standard that adds normal operating fluids and a driver estimated at an average weight. It is quite possible that there are other weight standards depending on country and their regs. (and don't forget mandated equipment), hence the widely ranging values.

according to what I was taught/read years ago was that curb weight was the cars weight with all fluids. but without the driver.
never thought about it before so I looked it up in Road and Tracks auto dictionary-"Weight of a production car that is ready for the road, with fluid reservoirs, including fuel tank, full all normal equipment in place without driver, passengers or cargo". Hope that helps

How frustrating. I've been searching around the web and I too see all kinds of differnt listings, some with the Syder, Targa and Berlinetta as weighing in differently and some the same, and from 2900 to 3200 pounds. Why is this so convoluted? If you check on the weight of most standard cars, there isn't this kind of disparity. Whatever they call curb weight in the US dry or wet, it should be apples to apples form one source to another. My title says 2,900 but the OBD2 scan said 3,300 or something like that when I was at the emissions station. It sounds like the weights you gys have posted are closer to 3,150 to 3,200 pounds, but I've found artivles where they clearly state less than 3,000 pounds. Maybe it has to do with the stripped down weight that some of the test models may have had to boost performance numbers with the magazine or somehting like that?

Best thing I can suggest is to take to weigh station near you and have it weighed. I did my BMW one time a few years ago went to a metal recycler they charged my 5 bucks and gave me a print out.

So the Berlinetta Curb minus dryu weight = a delta of 176 pounds. Dry Weight plus all those fluids = curb weight. So that means there is 176 pounds worth of fluids. I looked it up and the gallon capacities of all the fluids are as folows:

    brake/ clutch (.33) fluid, coolant (2.42), diff/gearbox fluid (1.1), wiper fluid (.66), steering fluid (.35), oil (2.09) and gasoline (18).
This comes out to 24.95 total gallons, or an average of 7.05 pounds per gallon. This makes sense as gas weighs about 6.1 pounds/ gallon and water weighs about 8.3.

So, I think that addresses the discrepencies just fine. Awesome!!!

Well, most of us weigh at least that much so maybe we should just let our cars drive themselves! :-D
