I tivoed the race and listened to it several times he just came on the gas to quick and lost it, Ferrari needs to lose him. Massa almost ran Kimi off the track in turn one. I just love to watch him in the interview room he always looks like he's going to pop. When they interviewed him after Q3 and he had pole he said he made stupid mistakes then corrected himself to say the track was stupid no Pelipe you are a jack ass and your the #2 driver thats it. The folks at Marranello need to have a sit down with this guy. Bring back Michael for the rest of this season and go get Alonso for next year the two would be unstopable. Like they said in the Soppranos HE'S GOTTA GO
How was it fair? Cars pushing other cars off the track in pouring rain. Dangerous alone is enough to call for suspensions. You may have liked what you saw but that has no bearing on the regulations in F1. I was surprised with the outcome. If Massa {who was the first to force his opponent off the track} took him out of the race I would wager cash that he would be reprimanded. Vise versa, no matter who started it.
I was watching the race today and I couldn't help but curse at the television when the Massassinator spun out. The closest contender to him is Kubica who is 15 seconds behind, there is no reason to spin out at all unless you have no talent whatsoever. I was ready to forgive Felipe for last week because he had pole and I was expecting a podium finish, instead he spins the car and loses it. Its bad enough that he spun it but he was unable to recover it at all. Put MS, KR, LH, or FA in that position, they could probably have saved the car and continued on. He'd had better podium next race or Ferrari ought to can his @$$.
That's the problem -- Massa isn't the kind of robotic, consistent, lap after lap after lap driver that Schumi was. But he does seem to have been practicing "der chop". ???!! A day when Ferrari's only competition is themselves is a *bad* thing??? Has anyone else noticed?: Massa -- both last year and this year -- didn't do so well in the races that happen in the middle of the night, Brazil time? Who, back home, is watching at that hour?
I taped the race and just finished it, yet I'm sure my comments have already been echoed here again and again. 2 weeks in a row Massa loses it without any help. Ferrari needs to ditch him and get someone more consistent. Has anyone started a petition for this yet?
Taken out of context, perhaps you would be rightfully correct. But given a 1-0 (near 0-0) finish in Melbourne, and Massa should be happy, nee, thrilled with 8 pts.
Well you saw the post-race interviews. Being able to pick the pit stop order was a huge advantage for Kimi over Phil. (Massa comes out heavy into traffic; Kimi gets a lap up front in the clear while light.) If Ferrari links those choices to which driver is ahead in the points, I can see where Phil would have been motivated to try for the win. From a team perspective, losing 8 points trying for another 2 is bad. But pushing for a win that would equate to strategic control in Bahrain -- well, how many drivers would resist that temptation? If the Ferrari drivers are battling each other, that may be team policy at work.
Agreed, I seriously hope he wasn't unhappy with his place in second after all it was his team mate that was ahead of him. He needs to step it up greatly over the next two or three races.
I hear you, but do you think that Massa would really put the pass on Kimi? Massa has only passed backmarkers for as long as I can remember, and seeing how hard it was at Malaysia in these conditions for Lewis to even pass Webbah, what were his chances? I am disappointed, but at the same time pleased with Ferrari. Like you said, if their way of giving favoritism to a driver is based on his position in the pts standing, then this will only further what we already know, and give Ferrari a legitimate reason to focus their support behind Raikko. What I find curious is McLaren's strategy. At the current rate, Heikki could be giving Lewis a bit more headache than he bargained for after ousting Fernando. Days of Our Lives: F1.
Kimi short-fueled to get out ahead of Massa. The second round would have been advantage Phil. If he hadn't fumbled. I'm not as worried at Phil uncorking the rear as by his not catching it. How many times did we see Hamilton and Alonso get loose in turns? But the back end steps out on Massa, and it gets away from him. Twice. Now *that's* disappointing. At least, to someone who used to rallye in the dirt, snow, and mud in RWD, that's disappointing. (Pity they moved the Nations' Cup out of the Canaries -- dirt is where you see just how good a driver is. ) (Notice how I say that with a straight face: like the back never got away from me, ever? ) I think maybe Lewis just prefers a lighter load for qualifying, rather than the later stop during the race. This is only the sophomore year for both McLaren drivers.
Agree whole heartedly, but the gamble worked out, as he finished the stops P1 and was probably confident that any fight with Massa would end with him on top, as leading and choosing your line and running in clean air yields more efficient fuel usage than running P2 and hammering down to play catch-up. Insomuch that Massa disappointed me with his drifting abilities, Kimi impressed with his composure, pace, and tactics. Raikko Raikko Raikko! Honestly, its not even fun to "bash" Massa anymore, enough damage has already been done by himself.
By the second stops, the leaders would be among the lapped traffic, so an extra lap isn't as much of an advantage on the second stop as on the first .. .... unless you're Schumi.
Well Andreas my good friend, looks like I maybe banned once again here, but Phylotic did you watch the same race the rest of us did? It was obivious from the start that Massa pushed his teammate to the wall, kinda like Senna but without the same talent. Also he spun out without any pressure, I couldn't believe it, but it was not unexpected. So let me ask you one question, we have a talent like KR at Ferrari who is arguably the best driver on the grid (equal to Alonso and Hamilton) yet you would argue in the favor of the little turd? Are you just demented or just a *********? I personaly think you are a big *********. You know why? Unlike Tifosi Ron, your stupid posts only make sense to you, by the way if you have the balls to follow me like you did with SRT Mike from different threads, I will call your little ***gy ass out every time. Sorry for any problems, Andreas and Dave.
Disclaimer: I don't think Massa deserves a seat at Ferrari. But Massa matched Kimi every lap? Are we watching the same race? Massa can't pull away from Kimi when he was in front (as we all know, the car on the back is always harder to go as fast or faster than the car in front) desipte he is slightly lighter, and Kimi pull away from him after the 1st pit stop!
Callin' it like it is Senna1994, Massa is outclassed and everyone who has functioning eyes and brain should be able to see and comprehend that. Pushing Raikkonen to the edge is something you do to your opponent not your teammate, that move nearly cost Raikkonen and Massa position. Spinning out is just inexcusable, there is ZERO pressure on him at the time. Saying that Massa was matching Kimi is also bizarre and wrong, Kimi was being held up by Felipe, Kimi was about a second off Massa until Massa's first pitstop, when Kimi set fast lap. You could put 50% of F1 drivers in the Ferrari and get a win from them, let alone a SINGLE F***IN POINT FROM TWO RACES. Realistically as the number 2, Felipe is supposed to get points to bolster the Constructor's race but at the rate he is going Felipe is going to score ZERO points.
+1 from a diehard Ferrari Fan since 1979, I only want Ferrari to win both WDC and WCC and have the two best Drivers possible. Hell my wife is Brasilian, and I have nothing against Massa except for the fact that I want the best driver in the second Ferrari Seat without the mistakes. For all the respect and love I had for Senna, I never liked the fact that he pulled some stupid stunts on Prost when it was not necessary. Forza Ferrari, may they win both the WDC and WCC in 2008. I hope no one ever questions my Tifosism for the SCUDERIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FORZA FERRARI 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FKCK the rest!!
Ferrari doesn't even need the best two drivers, they just need 2 competent, consistent podium finishers. Currently only one Ferrari driver fits the above criteria, can you guess which one?
..o.k...now that the dust just settled.... ..What he did the last two taces was just TOO MUCH...THIS SI GOT TO BE TURNING POINT. I like the guy, Massa has a Heart and is proven to be really, really fast...Im in his supporters Bus since the whole thing began...and Im not about to get off now that the road is all rough and dirty. with that said. Shouldnt we give him some room like we did with kimmi when he had 4 or 5 or 6 or more races were he wasnt comfortable with the car, with the team, with the Pasta for lunch ...I mean, back in 2007, Massa covered for all the inconsistencies Kimmi had...even for those of Ferrari as a team. AND I KNOW KIMMI IS CHAMPION OF THE WORLD TODAY...so lets bring it down a bit...Massa needs a gooooood loooooong talk with Mr. Todt, Mr. Montezemolo, Mr. Baldissieri...but I STILL BELIEVE HES GOT WHAT IT TAKES... What the guy needs now is support, and the team might have had his words with him already -I wouldnt want to be in his shoes now- but firing him because of this is just TOO MUCH also. He had a greXat POLE, he's fast... and needs some more testing time with the NO TC cars...I know, I know...there are another 20 something that already are used to this, bla, bla bla... ...I DONT THINK kicking HIM out solves the issue for FERARRI. ...Last year Kimmi wasnt WC and wasnt performing well through a LOT MORE TIME...and all sorts of MORONS were asking for his head on plate...
I see what you're saying. However, it only took Kimi about half a season to get aclimated to the team, tires and the car. Massa is in his 3rd year and is still having difficulties. How many more years do you think it should take Massa? Better yet, how many more years can Ferrari afford to give Massa?
