Since everyone else in the area does it just tell her that the engine is very technologically advanced and actually idles firing only 2cylinders, thus you're using half or a third of what others do when they leave their car on. She won't know any better - doubt she's a Ferrari anorak that will know it's a load of bull :)

+1 Perhaps maybe slap a 'Hybrid Synergy Drive' badge from a Prius on the back of the Fcar. She'll soon be singing praises about your car. lol

    - "but ma'm, it's a hybrid! runs on fuel and air!" That will *uck with her mind a little.

    - "no idling? ok, I'm sorry" *hits rev limiter*

Maybe the simplest solution to your problem (but not necessarily the cheapest): Move to a street where EVERYBODY has a Ferrari or similar vehicle :)

Richmond huh? Try the British Properties or somewhere in West Van......"Ditchmond" is too close to Surrey.

The point was that even though he has another Ferrari on his street , he still lives in Richmond.

No I'm sure Richmond is a wonderful place to live full of beautiful homes, but its not West Van and it is not the British Properties.

West Vancouver is home to some very large and expensive properties and houses. Occasionally, houses have been priced and sold at around CAD$20,000,000. As of 2006, West Vancouver's average house sells for over CAD$1,250,000, 70% of the houses or close to 8,000 homes were worth over CAD$1 million. West Vancouver is often referred to as the most expensive municipality in Canada.

The Average home in Richmond sells for $726,000, thats roughly $500,000 less than West Van on average, just a little different huh?

WTF!? Dude, he had a problem with a stupid neighbor and not his property value! If you're so hung up about West Van, then why dont you buy him a house there! Dont make him feel bad about his house!!!

I don't think JLP is trying to "make him feel bad about his house". He's just stating a fact about West Van having the most expensive real estate in Vancouver. Therefore, you would see more exotics on road than Richmond or elsewhere in Vancouver. And I completely agree with him, I work two jobs in West Van and it's not a day I don't see a Lambo or Ferrari on road there.

I agree with you 100% in that West Van is a much more expensive area, but your posts come off as being very arrogant and im sure others will agree.

Don't worry, i won't feel bad. I am sure everyone on this board is posting with good intention. I paid well over $1M for my house in Richmond. With the same price of the house in W. Van, the size is a lot smaller than mine. Sometimes, it might even only come with a car port with no garage. In fact, I did think about the same thing. Did I move to a wrong neighbourhood? Is the F car just simply too flashy and it just catches too much attention including bad attention? The same neighbour who saw my wife pulling her car (BMW 3 series) out waiting for the gate to be closed with the engine running, but she didn't say a thing to my wife. But then, even if I move to W Van, I might still bump into neighbours who don't appreciate our cars. Where else am I gonna move then? I guess the best way is to deal with this particular neighbour instead of thinking about if I had bought the wrong property or not.

Ahem! Still dont think he's bagging on the guy!?

Richmond has a high number of RR/Bentley owners and a few F-Cars and Lambos as well. Just because he's well versed of W. Van does not give him the right to "lecture" anyone of where or how they should live! I'd hate to see what he would say when I finally get my next F-Car. I live in a dinky condo in the Metrotown area and it only cost me a little less than $400K. Besides, the whole point of this thread is about a snotty biatch who was getting a bit too "atmosphere friendly", not West Van housing cost! So why must he give his $.02 about "Ditchmond" being too close to surrey!?

He's probably related to your neighbor or something. :D Pisses me off when dumb arses like that look down on people who aren't up to HIS standards. Anyways, any news on "Ms. Thing" and her crusade to save the world? :D

Don't be pissed, I am sure JLP didn't mean that. =) I replied her letter and dropped the letter in her mailbox on Thur. Haven't heard from her since then. I explained to her in the letter that my car is emission and noise level approved by the provincial government and I spoke to a RCMP officer in Richmond. His reply was the idling law doesn't apply here in Richmond and the officer said my action was reasonable and not even considering as idling. The officer I spoke to was very kind. He said if she still has an issue, he will come down here to talk to her. Hopefully, my letter will put an end to this issue.

    Good luck Edwin.

Hopefully that solves it for you.

Eco-nazis such as your neighbour are one of the most mentally unbalanced and ideologically fervent species on the planet. Logic, facts and reason do not matter to them in their crusade to have us all riding bicycles in our Birkenstocks.

She sounds like a neurotic treehugger, I would just agree with her and tell her it won't happen again, then do it the next day, hahaha.

My neighbour left me a note saying she wanted to talk to me. I went over to her house today and wanted to see what's going on. She claimed that I had been going out after 11pm and the noise of the car was waking her up. I explained to her that I hardly went out after 10pm cuz I got 2 young kids and they had to go to bed at 9pm. There is just no reason for me to go out after 11pm. I have a very ordinary life. Then, she even claimed that she saw me driving my F car out after 11pm. The last time I drove my F car was the time she complained abt me idling the car. Ever since, I hadn't got a chance to drive it. The only other person who had a driver license in the family was my wife and she didn't even know how to operate the F1 tranny. I began to realise that I was talking to a person who got some kind of a mental problem. It seems to me that she would imagine all these things and just blame them all on me. During the conversation, my wife happened to come home. So, I told my neighbour that I would ask my wife to turn on the engine of her car to see how bad the noise was. My neighbour didn't want me to do that at the beginning, but I insisted. It turned out that we both agreed the noise level was very minimal even tho we were standing outside of her house, but she still kept saying the noise was enough to wake her up. I kept telling her neither me nor my family member would go out after 11pm. She just wouldn't believe me. At the end, we still didn't have any solution cuz the problem didn't really exist. It's all from her imagination. I know she will keep bugging me. What can i do to stop her if she comes to me again?

First of all Edwin, don't go over to her house if she is unstable/crazy, it's not worth your time, I would seriously just ignore her, if she has any problems tell her to contact the police and leave it at that. Give me a ring next time you take the car out
