    Hey there FChatters,

I have been trying to find a high-quality F50 GT model in 1/18 for about two years now. I have found models in the past, such as Versus and others, but these models can run as much as $1000! Because I am still a prospective Ferrari owner, this amount of money makes me cringe, especially for what essentially amounts to two pounds of resin and metal.

Is there a company out there that makes a respectable F50 GT kit for around $100-200? Is there anyone out there who has a model they don't want anymore? I would love to finally have this car as a part of my growing collection.

    Thanks for any help,

    Frank

That Versus/apm F50GT is lovely but it doesn't help to answer the original question. Where can you get a 'cheap' kit? I have seen a transkit on ebay before that coonsisted of a new front hood, rear deck and wing but have never seen one since. I'd still like one that has steerable wheels, opening doors and removable panels - think I'll build one myself!

I believe the set of transkit you've seen was one crafted by Modellino, which I heard is not quite realistic as the real thing.. with the condition you are requesting, it can only be a self production, which you need to make it by yourself... but even if you are able to make a set of transkit which has parts perfectly matching the real thing, in my opinion, there are currently no good standard 1:18 F50 for you to fix them on.. If you need another 100% one, you might need to make the entire model car by yourself...which is not pragmatic as the cost would be multiple times more than the cost you would need to pay for a set of APM kit...

I have the Modellino transkit before, it cost 95EUR.. but it is a "garbage" set.... very inaccurate... I think I dumped into garbage some years ago.

homer91186/ Frank, if you are seeking for promising quality and accuracy, buy the APM F50 GT, or you can make the model by yourself, or to wait for some company or workshop to produce it, but I think it is less likely that somebody is going to produce it someday, because generally, this Ferrari lacks some popularity in the world automobile, not many people know about it. And its model would probably lack demand in the car model market...

That is the one Michael, I think you told me when there was one on Ebay. I think it would make a great starting point. I already have the basis of an F50GT which I started working on ages ago and that kit would be very handy!

There has never been a yellow F50GT in 1:1 only 3 red ones.

APM made some yellow, and there's a red one on ebay right now for 995 euro's, which is way more than I paid.....

I didn't mean the real car, I meant the model in 1:12..By the way, I remember I've seen one in 1:24, built version on the net before, some japanese yahoo or amazon....
its quality is no where below the 1:18 and the 1:12 versions..

    Oh well, someday.

That is an awe-inspiring model! That is exactly what I'm looking for.........any chance you would want to part with it?

Well, yes. The majority if my collection is 1:18. It's not so often you come across larger scale models of the GT...didn't even know it existed. I'm just a collector on the prowl, what can I say?

    The offer stands.

I am not selling mine, I'm a collector not a dealer, this one is really special!
Can't take the risk not getting another one...

I also have the 1:12 288GTO in yellow!! No opening panels, like the Tamiya, but much rarer...
