Global Cooling now suspected?

I saw something a few days ago about some buoys recording slight drops in ocean temperature. This drop in temperature can only be related to the burning of fossil fuels which are putting up a cloud of gas that is blocking sunlight and bringing a global ice age upon us.

 

You forgot to mention that the ice caps on Mars are reportedly melting. We believe this is due to the CO2 emissions on the mars rover.

Mercury is actually shrinking. It hasn't changed mass but creases/wrinkles are starting to become more pronounced. Apparently Mercury is cooling off too.

 

I hear Al Gore is working on the production of "An Inconvenient Lie" as we speak.

 

I've noticed a switch to a more "carbon emissions" focus. Who can argue that there are more cars etc. spewing junk into the air? So, that's the "fail safe" excuse they'll be using to tax you more regardless of whether the planet happens to be cooling down a bit.

 

That's our government for you. I don't see how anyone can believe a word they say. They just keep adding new taxes.

All I can say is that we have record snow fall here. 503 centimeters up to date this season. And awaiting 10 more tonight!
My street is a snow canyon and it's not even a joke. So please stop giving me cr@p about global warming...Pleeeeeeeeese!

 

I'm ready to sue. I want a refund from all those BS global warming related taxes and fees that did not ask me if I wanted to contribute, they just reached in my wallet and took it. I'm livid.

Aren't there a few scientists that have been basically, "shunned" from all organizations, etc because they don't agree with the rest of the scientists about global warming.

The Earth, being what it is, an almost unimaginably tough and flexible environment. It would seem to me that the Earth always adjust things to accomodate and increase/decrease in other things. Over a period of time of course.

Correct. If climate change is occurring, the earth will adapt...but mankind may not and take a lot of other species with it. Then give it another 500,000 years and we'll be back again.

 

I saw another show about the Clovis people (first settlers of North America), and they talked about the short ice age about 12000 years ago. The theory is that is was caused by a disruption in the the Atlantic "Conveyor Belt of Life". I learned it is not only the difference in temperature, but also the salinity of the artic water. Basically, the less salty, the less the water cycles back toward the equator. As the glaciers receded past the Great Lakes, the North Atlantic got a huge dump of fresh water, and this caused the Belt to stop.

But this appears to support my own personal layman's position, that the Earth is largely self-regulating in the long term. The "Mini Ice Age" was only a few years. As the northern latitudes cooled, ice and glaciers built back up, locking the fresh water. This allowed the ocean to become saltier again, the Belt picked up speed again, and carried the equatorial warmth north again.

 

No laughing! This is a SERIOUS matter. We need to do something NOW, so that our children have a save place to grow up.

 

I've always wondered about the panic over the ozone 'hole' over Antartica. We've had satellites orbiting only 40 years or so, spotty scientific research in an inhospitable area, yet the sky is falling?

 

That's the one that tilted my green credulity meter. Ozone is an unstable molecule. It falls apart on its own. It takes an energy source to create ozone. In the upper stratosphere, the only energy source is -- solar radiation. (E.g. the ozone isn't the means of UV absorption -- it's the by-product) And the hole is over antarctica -- a well-known fun-in-the-sun locale.

But they don't ask if it's normal: intead they stick a flag in it and claim it for the US of A: "That's ours: we did that with our hairspray cans!".

Why antarctica, when most of the industrial nations are in the northern hemisphere? Why isn't there a bigger one over the north pole?

Or, for that matter, if it was caused by hairspray, why isn't the hole over Brooklyn?

You will find, after a time, that "political correctness" usually isn't "correct" by any other metric.

(Have you heard them debating in MD over how spraying someone with a garden hose can be a form of "sexual assault"? A career in politics seems to require the ability to disconnect from sanity.)

 

I've always wondered how blasting **** up into space affect the ozone layer.

I never hear environmentalists wanting to stop space travel.
