i found that i hope it,s not true,anybody know something more. http://www.*************/PitLane?viewThread=y&gID=0&fID=2&tID=153664
why do you hope it's not true? Do you know anything about the company? Or you just don't want it to happen because it's an "INDIAN" company? correct me if I'm wrong though.
It would be unthinkable for any company other than a Italian company to own Ferrari. If Ford had bought them in the 60's it would be just as bad
i have nothing against indians and asian people they are superior than use in many thinks and they are normally better persons and more educated ,but i dont find great that the bigest name in car history is bought by asian people. i also dont liked when the germans bought lambo but audi and vw are far beter cars that tata and they made great thinks for lambo. i find totaly **** cars tatas it,s something very diferent if audi or mercedes or bmw buys that part of ferrari than tata.
i think that one day brands like ferrari, maserati and aston martin will be buyed by the vw audi group so they will have the lambo and bentleys rivals,i preffer that becose they have just the best brands allready like lambo ,bugatti, bentley etc...
This is a weird thread covering rumors, possible racism, and illiteracy. Is this the best of FerrariChat, or the worst?
Considering that Ferraris are more reliable now than they ever have, with many of their current models being used as 'daily drivers', I'd say their reliability has greatly improved already.... Having said that, Ferrari is the pride of Italy, NOT India.....Indians are free-n-clear to do what they wish with their money, but buying Ferrari from the Italians isn't one of them. Rome would burn before this happens, trust me. You wouldn't be hearing about this from an internet Tabloid if the story had a shred of truth to it, it would be front-page news of every automotive journal in the world. It would be akin to Ford Motor Company being bought by the Russians.....won't happen in a million years. Concerning Abu Dhabi's 'investment', I don't think their financial interest is a controlling one, or one that involves racing/car production at all - they've licensed with Ferrari to build a luxury amusement/theme park in their country?
Tata is more than a car company. in fact, their motors division is relatively small. they have 98 companies, many of which are the largest in their respective segments. so comparing a ferrari car to a tata car is irrelevant, since tata GROUP would own the shares.
NPR had a piece on that purchase yesterday. The British government, the American is pretty hands off industry and deals to foreign companies are pretty common and the deal went through. That is not true in most other European countries where protectionist governments are the rule and no deal giving controlling interest to a major national brand would be permitted. I don't think any of us will live long enough to see Tata, ford, Honda or anyone else based outside of Italy with a controlling interest in Ferrari.
If your 328 was so unreliable why did you get a 355? And if the 355 is so unreliable then why not sell it and get a NSX?
the legality of the purchase of shares isn't the issue here, the OP was just trying to gauge the reaction to the rumor
tata surely knows how to make business, no need to be afraid about the overtake. i can talk long about benefits of tata's policy as i was writing an article about jag's purchase, but to name a few: tata has very big money potential (as if ferrari hadn't already), and keep in mind they're very effective; two years ago noone believed them they'll make a new people's carrier for 6k $, and now we have it - nano; presented with no delays and for the price promised. that is SOME achievement. tata is no stranger to moto industry and with the development they're having now, they'll grow really big. anyway, FIAT won't sell ferrari
The only negative effect of one group owning several brands, that were once separate, is best exemplified by what are GM, Ford and Chrysler products today. Each one of these conglomerates is made up of brands that once were separate, distinct and pulsating with very different ideas. Today they are simply a different grille and nameplate over what is basically the same vehicle. Inevitably, after the acquisition has taken place, the powers that may be cannot resist the idea of messing around with the products thay have acquired. This is usually instigated by the bean counters and is dressed up by the marketers with words like sinergy and rationalization. The products of sinergy and rationalization are all before our eyes and make up a long list of cars that we would never buy. This has nothing to do with Tata in particular: it is simply a fact of life that tends to repeat itself over and over again.
