    Hello,

Does any Ferrarist have experience with oil additive (engine, gearbox) like Mecacyl ("hyperlubricant").
    See web site http://www.mecacyl.com/ .

A friend of mine, owner of a 328, uses it for gearbox and motor for 4 years, with good results :
No more hard cold 2nd gear, far less engine oil consumption.

When you read what is written on the website, there are only advantages of the product (mainly reduce friction and so wearness of all moving parts).

Does anybody experienced such product ?

    Thanks,

Denis, I went to the site but I could not find sufficient information for evaluation or its composition.

    Hi

A few years ago I looked at it. Although reviews seems to be supportive (se French porsche forums club911.net), I was perplexed. The website suggests there is a kind of two step process which kind of scared me.
I have read on multiple occasions that oil additives are at best not harmful and sometime marginally better than just oil. However, I have also read the horror stories.
I would love to know what the F-chat resident oil expert make out of mecacyl.

Bottom line: I didn't do it.

For the gearbox, you can switch to better quality oils that reduce the problem with 2nd gear when cold.

    Cheers

Oil additives are at best of no benefit, or most often, they are detrimental. Oil chemistry is an art and some of the best kept secrets.

While I tend to agree for the most part as far as engine oil additives are concerned, I disagree for gearbox/transaxle/differential oil additives. There are several gearbox additives I have used in my Ferrari's over the years that made a definite improvement in shifting

    Hi,
What are the "horror stories' that you've read ?
Any engine failure probably due to oil additive ?
I found nothing one the website about compatiblity with seals materials.

I think I will start by using it in my daily car, see effect.

I found a little bit strange that this product is not more famous, if it has all the good effects that are written...

The problem with that sort of anecdotal information, is you don't know what the longterm issues might be...because your sample is so small.
