Does anybody know if the power steering from other Ferrari model suits in 348?

The power steering from the Mondial T could PROBABLY be swapped into the 348, but it would be difficult and VERY expensive.

I understand that there is some sort of electrical power steering package that can be installed in most any car, but I don't know who makes it or sellls it.

I'm not a physically strong person (55 years old, 5'6") but I can handle the manual steering on my 348 with no problem. I would rather have my unassisted steering in the 348 than the assisted steering in the 355. Just my own opinion.

I don't get it! Why would you kill one of the best features of the 348?? Save your money and buy a 355 and get the other electrical gee-gaws as well.

    Good posts above.

Also, there are some things that you can do to make the 348's manual steering lighter.

But first, keep in mind that the 348's manual steering is a delight...it is only moderately difficult to steer at extremely slow speeds. Above 20 mph you'll never miss power steering on a 348.

But, for those sub-20mph drives or parallel parking, install two-piece, lightweight front brake rotors and Speedline magnesium wheels to cut down on front weight.

Remove everything, including the carpet from the front trunk.

    Use lightweight tires.

If you have a 348 with a front mounted battery, move it to the back of your 348 with a kit that matches the early 348 battery position.

Install a lightweight kevlar 348 front bumper (standard equipment on 348 Competizione models, also available by aftermarket customizers).

Install 348 Competizione-style fixed front headlights instead of the usual pop-up headlights.

By trimming weight from the front of a 348, you'll greatly reduce steering effort for those few times when your car is below 20mph.

This may sound stupid, but if you are having trouble with slow speed steering, check your tire pressure. If you over inflate by a small percentage, you will enjoy much lighter steering.

I am with you on this one, i wish the 355 has no assist. As mentioned check your tire pressure and if your tires are old chances are its leaking air. Good luck.

Thank you all for the answers.
The question was given to me as a study by an owner of a 348 and nobody in Greece had any idea if a power steering from other Ferrari model could fit without big trouble. All the experts are posting here so your opinion could not be negotiated.

A little off topic, but could you use the Mondial power steering bracket to install a supercharger? Now, that might be worthwhile!
