I'll post my motor mount heat shields when they're done; I'm using fairly thin gauge titanium sheet with a very high temp insulating material siliconed to the bottom. Overkill? certainly...but it's fun :D

What's confusing me is the oil tank heat shield everyone talks about...don't our cars already come with one?

As for heat damage, my opinion is that it will be cumulative and won't cause any effects in the short term. Don't get me wrong, many bright guys have gone uncoated and that may work just fine, I'll just sleep better with every little bit of heat protection I can add without going too crazy.

How much does it cost for the ceramic coating? And how long will the group buy F-Chat price last?

I believe someone indicated prior that the ceramic coating at fabspeed will cost an extra $300.00.

Here are a couple pics of the sheilds. 1st pic is the shield on the bottom of the oil tank, the next two are for the alternator. Quality of the pics isn't great. The Alternator shield is just tin (a little thicker that stock) and I can't remember what the material is on the oil tank.. I can find out though.... Hope these help. I still have to stand by on the no coating needed..

what are your experiences on the street with the Fab-headers ?

Is there any changing noticeable (driveablility, acceleration )?

    Thanks

    False answer.
There is no comparison with Capristo because Capristo has no headers. Sorry.

    No change sensible ?

+1 I live a few blocks away from fabspeed and I have never seen such a quality exhaust product such as these.

Yep.. The techs at the shop dialed me up.. I am still waiting for the snow and sleet and hail to stop for a while (should be tomorrow) and I will post a few shots of the headers installed in the 355...

    Andi,

No sound difference, all systems have been a go (no CEL's). Only differance I noticed was a little quicker throttle response but I had the headers installed at the same time as my 30k service.. So between the two, a little quicker response time.. Main problem is trying to keep everyone from SLOBBERING all over them when ever they see them... lol....

    Sonny.....

Update: The Fabspeed 355 header group buy is still open, but the price has increased slightly - $2595 with free ground shipping. This is still $400 lower than their new MSRP of $2995. This price isn't automatic for all 355 owners, so if you call them to place an order be sure to reference the Ferrarichat group buy.

Any more feedback on installation, fitment, or performance? Has anyone measured temps either coated or uncoated with an IR temp. gun? I know temps will vary greatly based on how it was driven, ambient, etc. but still would like to see some numbers.

I finally got a response from Fabspeed (my original request is from a week ago)and was advised that the ferrarichat.com group buy is EXPIRED.

They would sell the headers to me at $2750.00 plus the shipping is extra (did'nt they orig include the shipping ?) .

This represents a discount of $250.00 off their new web site list price.

As well you have to add another $300.00 for ceramic coating....raising the price to $3050. plus shipping and taxes = $3500.00 landed.

Anyways, I think I will look around before committing to Fabspeed........even Stebro is cheaper than this.....they sell their manifolds brand new for 2g on the Ebay auctions (and their list price is $4800.00) and this includes ceramic coating and lifetime warranty .

Having said that I am not interested in purchasing Stebro's product.......due to the issues mentioned by others on this board. I believe I saw a used set of fabspeed manifolds (used only a few months) for sale on ebay about 6 weeks ago and they sold pretty cheap.....I'll keep an eye there as well.

Chris let me know if you talk to jay. I am interested in a set. I don't need them yet but will and would buy if we can get the same f-chat rate as before. Maybe we can get a couple more to confirm a purchase and get a deal going.

Is anyone else interested in purchasing headers for your 355? I have a message for jay and waiting to hear back. I would like to try and get the original $2345.00 shipped price from a couple of months ago. I hope I can get enough confirmed buyers that he might reinstate that price or atleast the $2595.00 shipped. Please let me know if you are interested by PM or post. Thanks

Last I heard our group buy price was $2595 shipped as of last week.

Just for fun I compared weight, Fabspeed passenger side was about 11 lbs, OEM was 14.5 so we end up saving 7 lbs. I'm hoping to convince the wife I'll save a fortune in gas now :D

I just got mine back from ceramic coating, inside and out. Now they look pretty much the same but hopefully will stay shiny longer.
