If it is Stainless and Gold that would probably be pretty close...that maybe a bit high for an '03 model though. They do tend to hold their value well, but I bet it didn't cost much more than $9500 back in '03 even it SS/18kt. The SS/18kt new right now are just under $13,000. I have seen late '90's SS/18kt for around $7k...I think they had papers and boxes too. The nice thing about the cosmo's is that no one can readily replicate them (the current version...and the one for the last 3-5 years I guess, not sure if the older ones were fakeable). The best replicas are still quite obviously replicas if you know what to look for. The best thing to look at is the position of the 3 and 9 sub dials. On a REAL cosmo the center will be slightly above the center line of the main hands...on a replica you can draw a line right through the middle of the watch and it will go through the center of the main dial as well as the centers of the sub dials. There are other things too, but that one is the easiest to spot. Some of the other Rolex replicas are SO GOOD you can't tell unless you open them up or get the serial number looked up... Keep in mind that the replica makers also produce fake papers and fake boxes for the watches! I look forward to a cosmo on my wrist someday too! Best, James Austin, TX
Stainless Steel Daytona's go for much more than the Two Tones (Don't ask). Yes, that is a good price. -dsd
WHAT?! Seriously? WHY THE HECK IS THAT??? Less demand so less supply built but still not enough supply to meet demand? I can't imagine they are any different other than they don't have any GOLD IN THEM! Strange, James Austin, TX
I believe that Rolex has done a great job limiting production of the SS Daytona. They're in huge demand, and are tough to get. Other than the metal, the SS, two tone and all gold are identical mechanically.
Is that real? I did not know Rolex did PVD. Is it even PVD? A full reference would be great on that. -dsd
The watch in that pic is real. The finish is aftermarket http://www.watchtraderz.com/2007/08/pvd_rolex_daytona_chronograph.html
Wait, you found an SS Daytona for $8k in Penn? I'm assuming you are referring to Pennsylvania? Did you buy it?
I have a Daytona now so I didn't. I was going to buy it and sell it. Never did. Let me find the guys email for you. That black Daytona is amazing but they want 19k for it. Wayyy out of my price range. Antony
I don't know much about watches at all but I believe that the SS Daytonas were so limited that some people had to either wait a real long time to get one at MSRP or pay a huge markup in the price. I personally think it's one of the most classy watches I've ever seen. Image Unavailable, Please Login
If anyone is looking for a Rolex Daytona 18k White Gold with Meteorite Dial and Black strap (mint with boxes/papers/original receipt in my name), PM me as I am looking to sell mine. There is a Rose Gold Royal Oak Offshore thats calling my name!
Very nice........ you sure it was your name and not mine it was calling? Not sure why the SS Daytona is at such a premium over YG. I'm thankful I prefer YG.........
