1. Roy simply traded the paper on the car. Probably told him to go pick the car up from where it was...at Viva Las Vegas. That saved Roy the shipping charges of having it sent from NV to WA. 2. Who cares? Why would this be anybody's business but the state of CA and Josh? Josh could have been too busy traveling, mulling over his options for registering out of state, or simply sleeping under a rock. What does it matter? If you can legitimately avoid paying the tax, why would you not? I have read on here that Josh made inquiries into registering it in Montana, a technique used by many, many exotic car owners. He was probably trying to get his head around how to avoid paying the tax, as he was already overextended when he purchased the car. Is that really so bad? Does that really mean he deserves to lose his car? Come on, stop going off on tangents. Josh doesn't sound like the most sophisticated guy out there (I am sure the hits to his head didn't do him any good). But is that any reason to pillory him and make him out to be deserving of what happened?
Isn't this a simple case of, when you buy something from someone that they don't own you have to give it back to the rightful owner and your only recourse to seek payment from whom you bought it. In this case: Josh sues Roy because he did not actually own the car. Roy sues LV because they sold him a car that they did not own. LV is stuck because the person they need to sue is not available. If there is any real legal wrangling it is going to be between LV and the leasing company. The "customer is always right" is great when you are talking about a hamburger or something like that but when you are talking "titled property" it needs to go through the proper legal channels. I would not hesitate to buy a car from Roy if he had one that I wanted to buy. This is such a weird quirky, one in a million case that no one is really at fault. If I did buy a car from him and lightning struck twice and this did happen again, he has plenty assets to deal with through the courts. I just don't see how this should harm Roy's reputation. I'm sure it would be the same with any other dealer large or small. The key is if you are buying something really big from someone and you want recourse if something goes wrong they need to have sufficient assets to go after. Bottom line is everyone is going to be inconvenienced because some scum bag committed fraud, sold the car and took off.
I would have to check the exact dates, but that sounds about right. 1) Full payment is made Dec 27 2) Due to form of payment 7 days "business" days are waited to make sure transaction is valid. 3) With the holidays would be approx January 10 or so, we wire funds to Viva. 4) We get title sent to us by VIVA. 5) We sign off on title, placed in our name and re-assigned to new owner JOSH. 6) FedEx out to Josh. Not 2 months, more like a hair over 30 days. FYI, under Washington State Law and our DMV we ARE required to have the title out to the new OWNER and or Lien holder with-in 45 days of completed sale. Josh could have registered it in California under temp tag with the bill of sale. Do not know if he did that or not? I also do not know if the car when it was delivered to him by VIVA at the airport in Vegas (at his request and choice) if it did or did not still have Nevada Plates on it from the previous owner...?
Any updates with esquisite? What is esquisite's defense? What would the prosecution be against esquisite?
Any of the dealers knew that car was "hot stuff"? Many dealers were involved and non of the took this hot stuff into inventory before selling to the end user.
You have ignored the advice of a LOT of smart people FOR MONTHS. Both here and on LP. IIRC, Roy gave you an opening a few months ago to rid yourself of that car. You declined. Why should any community offer you advice that you are going to ignore? This is no longer about Cat's Exotics. It's about YOU. A lot of things have surfaced after the fact, and a few of them don't cast a very positive shadow on your actions. Why do you ask questions that you won't listen to the answer to? Why don't you listen to anyone? I could list the names of people that have given you mega sound advice for free; but I won't. You know the score. You have gotten free legal advice from people who are at the top of their fields and you could never hope to afford, yet you chose to ignore. I have to think twice about your motivations here.
Someone suggested that the detective didn't find him at all, but that Josh was stopped by the cops because of not having plates, they ran the VIN (or whatever), it came up as stolen (thus the handcuffs) as the leasing company meantime filed a report and there the story begins...
Josh you asked for honest advices in a questionable form. You got them from many posters. Then you proceeded to turn this thread like a hit piece against Cat Exotics every once in a while with "one liners" each time Roys provided clear explanaition. As an obsverver, your behavior make this whole story looks liker either the hidden camera show or a hit piece on Cats Exotics for whatever motives by putting oil on the fire. If you wanted enjoyment from his thread and it sure looks like it, I think you got it and more. So someone should put an end to that mascarade by now. Your attitude has been a bit astray from someone who lost over 100Gs all along. No offense to you personally but I find these comment disturbing given that one guy here has business on the line. So if you have direct convincing evidences from a court against whomever please post them for doing everyone a service. If all you got is what you post and "he said she said, then stay away from here please. We do not need this. In short: you show less and less as an "ordinary customer" to the observer's eye.
Right now, the specific Lambo in question is devalued because there are unpaid taxes on it. Considering the sheer quantity of greasers and schemers involved so far, I'd wager that one or more of the involved parties will attempt to scam out of those taxes by getting a "duplicate title" or pulling an insurance job or outright cloning the vehicle. It's as though several participants from various buyers in the chain to various sellers, are all getting advice from cons inside the wire. Really, really bad advice. This is a computerized Age, kidos. Autocheck and carfax and computerized DMV's are going to roll up the whole charade eventually. What worked 30 years ago is going to send a lot of people to jail today...over a stupid car. The initial leasing company was stupid. It goes downhill from there. There hasn't been one smart thing said about, or done by, anyone named in the chain so far. And golly gee, no one seems to have possesion of the car (impounded) or money now. Go figure. Now everybody is paying attorneys and at risk of fines, jail, loss of licenses, etc. It's like a giant IQ test was just failed by a significant segment of the population. My advice to anyone reading this thread: stay away from the car involved, it's tainted. Stay away from the buyers and sellers involved, they aren't clever.
100% EXACTLY MY THOUGHTS!!! Could it be a conspiracy?? Could Josh have known something was wrong or about to go wrong so he intentionally waited on registering the vehicle knowing something would go wrong...and in the meantime he drives for free...after all whats the worst that could happen when you buy a Lambo on unsecured credit cards...Charge off....Bankruptcy....(desperate people do desperate things and crazy people do crazy things and stupid people do desperate, crazy, stupid things!) Does he know anyone at the leasing company, the original owner? How did he find the car? I am not expecting Josh to directly answer these but it just makes you wonder....some people will go out of the way to have something they want or to get to do something...ie drive a lambo....it was his dream car and he fantasized about it (from one of his earlier post). Sounds like a Lambo was his pipe dream and it is very realistic he could have figured out a way to manipulate the system to enjoy one for a while....knowing there was little to no personal recourse on him no matter the outcome! THINGS THAT REALLY MAKE YOU GO HMMMMM.
Wow...this thread gives me a headache!!! BUT for sum reason I keep coming back to read it. LOL Anyway's,what's going on with Josh? Now he's making pointless dumb remarks..makes me wonder bout this guy! -what time should i set my alarm? -oh i got a girl coming over now so BRB! -I didnt register my LAMBO,and im under 25 year's old! -Roy dis Roy dat....ahhh save it!! -My wheel seems to got a flat,im pulled over on my laptop..GUYS WHAT SHOULD I DO?? You'll are my only help!! -ETC....... WOW WOW WOW!!!
Has anyone else noticed Roys signature on the bottom of every post!? "Drive them like they were meant to be driven, if you want to look at them, buy a poster." Kinda recall a more familiar quote..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUMjM9Bk4nw Roy i feel for you, and would not hesitate to buy a car from ya.
You just made me think for a second. Could this be a very very very well, plotted out April Fools Thread?
Well, out of April and Fools, this thread is short April so far. Tomorrow will be a different story, though...
No shiite! As I said on a previous post, I keep waiting for someone to just pop up and say "April Fool's"!
Everyone should meet in Vegas with their own Sledge Hammers and get all their emotions out so this thread can end and Roy can file a claim against the car for damage It's so funny that all you Roy haters want him to make good on this and when he does it's still not enough.
