There is such a thing as friendly neighbor but you sir are going way beyond, if she does not believe you ignore her. You already have done enough to accommodate her it seems to me that you are the only person she has contact with in a strange way you might be her only friend and this is just a strange way for her not to be lonely I'm no Dr Phil (thank God) but if you keep giving her the attention it might escalate into something worse...my 2 ct

Invite her over and offer her a nice big cup of shut the f**k up. Then tell her if she doesn't stop you will immediately purchase a Harley with the loudest exhaust you can get and take a job with a graveyard shift just so she can hear you come and go at all absurd hours. Kindly suggest to her if she doesn't want city type of noises she should move to oh maybe Princeton, though I'm sure they have a few Harleys and other loud MVs. Seriously though some people (an inordinately high percentage of retirees it seems) just must complain and live life with conflict and crisis. Simply tell her you never want to talk to her again and if she feels she has a legitimate complaint call the authorities. I have heard of whiners like this actually being threatened by the police with mischief tickets for their unwarranted complaints.
I wish they would do more than just "threaten" citizens that waste both the department's and our time! The old lady sounds like she needs to be placed in an "old folks home" or something!
you've done the right thing by dealing with her patiently and courteously thus far. if she is losing it upstairs you have to assume she will go to the police ..... so you should start the damage control early. police will contact your other neighbours to verify the complaint so you should pro-actively approach them, solicit their opinion/support..... so that when the old lady finally complains, you can give the police the neighbourhood contacts who will vouch for you. in the meantime, keep treating her with kid gloves but gradually minimize contact and let her know that her problems are invented and have nothing to do with you. good luck.
call the cops and file a report of harrasment or something, make them aware before she says you sexually assaulted her or something crazy...believe me it happend to someone i know. she sounds like my mother and a nut bunched into one person, my mom LOVES to complain....
The anti idling law here in Ontario is for over 3 minutes. It's not because someone watched their gate close either. It's because of all the morons who leave their vehicles idling in parking lots while they go into stores/coffee shops/etc and leave their motors running because God forbid they might have to wait 1/2 a second for the heat/A.C. to start up! It's because of the idiots who do deliveries and start the truck/car at 8am and leave it running all day until 5 or 6 pm because they apparently can't turn a key! It's the car companies and aftermarket tempting people with remote starters so they can be even lazier than ever (If drivers here can possibly GET any worse!!) and run their cars an extra 20 minutes a day while they have breakfast. Yeah, it's a few inconsiderate ignorant people that end up legislating the rest of us with Draconian laws to support the Global Warming Myth that give people like her fuel for their fire. Sounds like you're in a nice nieghbourhood. How big is her house? Ask her why SHE lives in an unefficient large house when she should be doing her part "for the environment" and living in a nice safe for the environment apartment........ Ask her why she doesn't have any solar panels. Why she hasn't got a wind turbine. That living "on the grid" will pollute far more than 10 cars like yours. Turn the tables. Lecture HER on HER waste. THEN tell her to shut up and mind her own business. Den.
As I am a new first time owner of a F355, I'm reading this thread with great interest. BTW, I don't live in West Van either! So what! Every time I start my Fcar with Hyperflow cats and Tubi, I apparently rattle my neigbour's LR window(on my garage side). But he LOVES the car. It IS a thing of beauty as attested to by my other neighbours. I don't drive it early or late at night and so far have not received any complaints. You obviously have a very unreasonably deranged neighbour that will never change. If ignoring her doesn't work, file a harassment complaint to shut her up. She's just one of those dinosaurs. I get people like this every now and then; I used to get it a lot when I bought my Hummer H2 back in '03 ... you should check out a book called "The Skeptical Environmentalist" by Bjorn Lomborg. It is a pretty interesting read and really shows you how all of the "save the planet" crazies use stats to skew their point. Maybe drop off a copy in her mailbox ... maybe she will educate herself and not let others try to tell her what she should think. Computers and video game consoles are one of the highest energy consumers on mass in the United States. It is scary that the power generated for video games almost out weighs the pollution from the airline industry. Good luck with the lady next door. Except the planet don't really NEED saving. LOL. I love the garbage these hypocrites turn out. Like the current commercials here in Ontario with David Suzuki changing "Bob"s outside light to flourescant. The irony is he at the end proudly points at "all the energy they're saving" because the whole street has apparently converted. Leaving out of course that "the whole street is lit up"!!! Hillarious!! Funny how he couldn't just say, "Turn off you F'n light Bob!" Woulda saved Bob $20 on a light bulb AND some Hydro. (and why is Bob so paranoid he needs his outside lights on all night anyways?? LOL) But nooooo. Not in Ontariariario!! We get threats of banning incandescant bulbs. MUCH easier than making an effort to educate people. Also leaves out that we NEED incandescants in places where lights aren't on long as a flourescant will burn out much quicker and fill landfill sites with Mercury.........Oh, but of course that's not part of their agenda..........Convenient. People like her believe the hype, but never think on their own. That's the problem with our "enlightened" modern society.
