http://www.evo.co.uk/videos/planetevovideos/217626/nissan_gtr_v_porsche_gt3.html the GT-R barely beats the GT-3 on this track as tested by EVO....certainly helped by it's 4wd and additional hp on this short bendy track...... it will be eaten alive by both the scud and the GT-2
I think one should wait for the V-Spec GT-R and then see how it gives the Scuderia and GT2 a run for their money too. Both Scud and GT2 are final products whereas Nissan w/ Lotus are still developing the V-Spec - which means they will make sure it outperformes them both.
Do you realize what a computer reprogram will do for a turbo car? I know you can get 600hp+ in a 2.0 liter Mitsubishi EVO for $1500 or so...
Base price for the Porsche is a joke. They don't even come with HID, leather interior, etc. Even the paint is extra $3000. If you spec the GT3 up to GTR's equivalent, it will cost around $130,000.
LOL, good luck getting a GT-R for $80K for the next 6 months. Please tell me you're being sarcastic about the interior....
It beat the GT-3 by half a second that tiny twisty track. How is that barely? Actually now that I've watched the vid again the guy says "the best part of a second advantage for the GT-R." Sorry that's not even close.
What evo can you get 600hp from in for 1500 bucks. Yoiu have to do quite a bit of mods to the ev0 8 to get it anywhere close to 600hp unless you mean spray the hell out of it with a wet shot.
I can't wait to see the GT2 get embarrissed by the Vspec, ACR and ZR1 so everybody can jump off the GT2 bandwagon.
Forget about the GT3 you cant get one. I had a deposit down for 8 mos and then they released the short 08 prod run, my dealer got none.
There are dealership that are selling them at MSRP. Try Grubbs Nissan in Texas if you want one at MSRP. Their '08 allocation is full, but '09 still at MSRP last time I checked. Another dealer in Pennsylvania was selling at MSRP. If you actually take the time to look and ask, you will find it. Personally, I'd want to get a nice, used and depreciated, 996 GT2 in '09 vs. a GTR at MSRP. I love the GT2 in Lapis Blue.
Don't beat on that dream anytime soon. A car capable of 7:32 on the Nordschliefe is going to be hard to beat by anyone.
The GTR did a 7:38 on a damp track. When the V-Spec drops some weight and tweaks the suspension I don't think it would be inconceivable for it to shave off 6 seconds on a track of that length.
Then wait seven months. . . A full-leather interior is a $3,000 option on the GT3, more if you want different seats. Go to "porsche.com" and price one yourself.
I think his comment was more geared towards the fact that the GT3 is NOT supposed to be a 'fancy' interior. It is supposed to be more of a 'bare bones' 911 for track and spirited street runs.
I cant quite understand why anyone cares what the GT-R, GT3, ZR-1, Blah blah whatever does around a specific track with a specific driver. Most of these cars are so close in performance that the track and driver make all the difference in the world. Its really splitting hairs in my opinion...sort of like having sex with 10 perfect supermodels and trying to determine which one is the 'best' ....they are ALL great. One may have the better moan, one the best boobs, another the best butt, another the prettiest eyes but on the whole they are so damn close to equal its silly to try and single one out as being the 'best'. Unless you're talking about a 288 GTO which IS the BEST
Well then that says a lot for a GT-R that doesn't have to be "bare bones" to make it around the track faster than the "bare bones" track-oriented GT3.
Thank you~ Precisely the point. A stock GT-R with no modifications can beat out the track oriented, factory modified Porsche GT3. If the drivers are semi-pros, the GT3 could probably not fall too far behind the GT-R. Had it been Weekend racers like us - it would had been no contest - every single review out there states the GT-R is way easier to drive fast than any other car that has similar performance. Score 15 Nissan, Score 1 Porsche. F430 vs GT-R? I'll reserve my judgement until I see a a review comparing the two side by side.
Just curious, how much HP does each car make? It seems that one of them has a much better chassie, and uses the hp in a much more efficient manner. Just a thought. Darrell.
