I just bought a used IPOD with video from a employee of mine. My question is can I just use it as an external drive and transfer my videos, music and pics over to the IPOD with windows explorer or do I have to use ITUNES? thanks Jason
If you don't use iTunes you need to use some other software that has an iPod support plugin. Without third party software you cannot use the ipod as an ipod. -dsd
Yeah The only problem I have is this thing is worthless to me for my personal needs. I have a Creative zen sleek with all my music on it. I bought the IPOD from my waitress so she could buy a prom dress and thought since it was video I would just put all my kids videos, pics and stuff on it just for fun and to show friends... Well I can transfer pics but it wont support ANY videos I have so I am stuck again... Oh well I guess it will clutter up my desk with all the other junk...
You have any number of options for converting video into a format digestible by the iPod - My suggestion would be to upgrade Quicktime to the "Pro" version and use that. [Its available for both PC's and Macs. [A quick search will throw up many more options, but QT Pro obviously offers "excellent" compatability with the iPod.] To return to your original question - From within iTunes you can enable "disk drive" mode. It will then mount to your desktop just like any other external drive - You can still use it as an iPod, but you can also store whatever-you-want on the thing [I have an old one I use as a backup drive - Works great.] HTH, Cheers, Ian
http://ffmpegx.com/download.html here u go man. the best converter. u can convert concerts videos to mp3, etc. good luck
I really like the Videora converter (http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/). Its free and fast. Once you get how the ipod works, it really is the best. -dsd
