It shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes to get there. You could actually meet up with Joey and everybody who's coming from Brooklyn and the area and head to Jericho together. Try to be there by 8. We're expecting high volume of cars and the sooner everybody gets there, sooner we'll be done registering and will be on our way!

    Hovik,
Your runs are well-organized, but $100 per person sounds like a lot of money to me and many others. I fully understand that this is a charity run, and I think this is a wonderful idea, but $200 to drive my car on public roads with other friends seems very expensive.

I am not complaining about the price, because I spend a lot of money during the year to attend charity events, but the price would be a lot more palatable if the charitable donation were more transparent. The $100 per person would be a lot easier to swallow if I knew that $90 of the $100 went to charity, as opposed to $10 to the charity and $90 for organizational costs of the event.

I mean no insult in any way by this post, but I am requesting a little more about the charitable details of this fairly expensive event.

    Thanks,
    David

    David,
Completely understandable concerns and no offense taken.

Unfortunately you haven't participated in any of the charity drives I've organized so I don't blame you for not understanding completely what's involved here.
Have you had attended an event you would have known that that $100 per person covers breakfast, lunch, t-shirts, stickers for cars, organizational costs, route cards, printed materials, and whatever is left after goes to charity.
It's very hard to predict before the event what percentage of the collected funds will be donated to charity, as the expenses and the # of people attending varies for each event.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

    Best,
    Hovik

Edit: Now that I think of it, you were at Summer Exotix Run last summer to Poconos!

Although I don't know the percentage sent to charity... I can vouch that Exotics Rally made almost no profit on their last successful large run. With that said... it is a rising club, with two very hard working founders that more than deserve to make a profit. For some, it's also a job... not just a hobby.
