I push quality over traffic, unlike most internet advertising, FerrariChat.com rates are fixed, not based on traffic or click-thrus. This supports our goal of looking at quality over quantity. We only advertise in Ferrari periodicals. I agree, we have our fair-share of problems with teens, but there are also some great teens and look at the "teens" we had when first starting like BretM, many were great users from the beginning and have now grown up. We also have a few users several multiples of the teen age, but act like them. :)

Why less Teenagers? I'm a paying Teenager, and I feel like I contribute to the forum as a whole (maybe I don't, and you can correct me). The thing that all brought us here today was the love for the prancing horse. That's what a forum is -- a congregation of individuals interacting with one another about a specified local interest. Now, I do understand your point in "less teenagers" if the teenager is being annoying, starting flame wars, not paying, talking trash, and overall bringing in a negative sentiment to the forum. I do, however, think that anyone and everyone (any age, gender, race, height, weight) can do that regardless of <---.

With that said, I feel that Rob and the moderators as a whole do an excellent job overall and is one of the defining reasons I will continue to post here. Without their moderation, we wouldn't have discussions like we do in the forums that we do.

How about adding something interesting to the monthly newsletter. Typically it's just some more or less meaningless statistics and a list of advertisers (just like the list on the site). Some expanded content about something interesting or a personal message from you or someone (moderators perhaps) with something to say or maybe a list of the "Banned" and a summary of their crimes against the site would make it something to look forward to rather than being quickly relegated to the "Junk Mail" folder.

You are looking forward to the wrong things. :D;)

We tried to get a "car profile" section going where a user and cars were profiled, but most candidates were reluctant for privacy reasons. We have made attempts in past like Velostrada (http://www.ferrarichat.com/velostrada/) and Podcasts (http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/podcasts.php), but you would be surprised how little attention that content gets although both were produced great. I've learned human nature and forum behavior is very interesting that someone will spend hours in the forum talking about nothing or writing posts long as a novel, yet you can't get a user to take 3 minutes to read articles or view a podcast. Each online magazine and podcast would only get a few thousand views, yet we have an average of 6,000 registered users plus guests browsing the forums each day.

I'm looking at some add-on software to get some cooler stats I can include in the newsletter. Beyond that I will publish in the newsletter articles users want to write. Go for it and I will be happy to include if appropriate.

I,too, would like to see IMG allowed.

If you're concerned about seeing the red X, what's the difference between seeing a red X and a link to a photobucket type account not working? If the picture is deleted from another host, I'd rather see a red X and know immediately there's no picture, rather than to waste time clicking on a link that I hope works, but end up finding out does not.

I will say I have gotten immense help and info from some members on this site, both through their online posts and through the PM area.

Right now if I make a typo in a search, I have to wait for 30 seconds before I can search with the corrected list.

Sure would be nice to not have to wait...

I still think a mandatory first time user tutorial or at least an e-mail for all new users letting them know how things work and how to search. If it included the top 10 newb questions it might help too. This should have to be completed before being allowed to post!

Oh and block all attempts at posting a new thread asking "how much do you make/ what do you do/ how did you afford your Ferrari" ;)

Other than that I think it's great and wouldn't change much. How to search for specific items still sometimes escapes me, it seems there should be an easier way but I sure don't know what it is!!

Thanks for asking by the way!!

Touche' about the articles. How about monthly specials and discounts for subscribed members from sponsors?

As far as "Podcasts" and "Velostrada", I have seen those headings but have no idea what they are or what to do with them. I'll bet I'm not the only one.

I've seen "Live Chat" mentioned but I'm not sure how that is different or better than what we're doing now. I don't type very fast and usually like to think a while before posting so I'm not sure I need more speed in response time.

The easiest way to get rid of those threads is: DO NOT REPLY! If no one replies, the thread will eventually die into the vast darkness of the archives. And if people must feel they need to reply to those threads, then perhaps the moderators can close/lock the threads as soon as they see them.

I think you could add real value to this site by creating a Technical Tips area dedicated to various car models or service requirements. For instance Timming Belt Replacement, or Clutch Replacement. Then organize the technical information you already have, into an informative naration on the process. Eliminate the negative and irrelevent posts and create a technical site populated by your subscribers. You will be compiling a DIY site for Ferrari repair. Whith the current subscribers it will be the best on the planet. You could even consult with a real Ferrari tech to oversee the whole process and add content. It would have to be someone that isn't a crybaby! You can then charge for admission to that area. I for one would be willing to pay an extra fee for access to a well organized step by step technical area. The current search function gives you too many threads to read and a lot of irrelevent talk.

We need an option in the ads section to be able to delete an ad we placed.
Fo instance, I was considering selling my g35, changed my mind and I can't delete the ad.

Alllow subscribed members to submit pics of their cars for inclusion in the banner headline. It would be cool to see your own car there when surfing the site. :)[IMG]

Personally, I would like to see a subforum just for race cars.

    Thanks,

I have found much valuable info on repairs on FChat, that has saved a lot of time and eliminated a lot of guesswork. I agree that the search yields alot of irrelevant info, and a Technical Tips area would be great. I'd like to thank FChat and all it's members for contributing repair info and parts cross reference etc. A life saver!

Straight FERRARI and keep the others out, including some threads which do not reflect the real spirit of the marque. Ferrari, plain and simple.

    Ok, here are my thoughts...

Create a reference section, with technical articles, like "pelicanparts" does...one suppository for high quality, edited, tech tips, with tons of pics...this would be great for ferrari owners. Each tech article could have a link to a sponsor, with the required parts and pricing...win/win for everybody...

Ferrari chat only discounts. Have sponsors list stuff they really want to get rid of, at bargain basement pricing. This could be its own subforum..."Bargain basement stuff."

More ferrari videos/clips. These are great, and very unique. Perhaps visit high profile f-chatters and video their collections.... Or a video of removing a motor in a 308/testarossa/etc...

I think ferrari-chat has some outstanding resources and threads, but some of this stuff needs to be active organized into reference material...

I don't like links to photobucket either for the reason you say, but no way to block those links. photos are uploaded to our servers and displayed inline, they will never go bad.

The 'Welcome' email does have a few things like that, but we can rework it to make it better. Here's the current one, please offer suggestions...

One thing that always bugged me was when you search for a user and their posts, you come up with the threads they have posted in, but it doesn't give you any guidance as to which page, etc, and you have to dig through the thread to find what you're looking for.

Perhaps embed the search with some sort of code to where when you search for a users posts, and click on the thread, it starts out at their first post.
