Paint Imperfection or repaint?

Ferrari has the most sophisticated painting system of all manufacturers, I believe. These cars are hand inspected in detail. It seems extremely unlikely it got out of the factory like that.

 

Ask the dealer for the moment of truth.

Tell the dealer that you have taken up the painjob with Ferrari of NA. And that they suggested that you paint meter the car. Ask the dealer you bought the car from if you can drive over and use there paint meter. Have whoever sold you the car stand there with you and paint meter it. If there is any drastic differences in paint thickness... they sold you a car with paint work. I garuntee the paint meter all of there cars. At this moment you will find out if your dealer was lying to you. You will see them squirm. As a former salesperson at a dealership, this would be my worst nightmare... however, i wasn't a dirtbag salesperson. I never over committed to anything I didn't know and I would tell a customer if a car had paintwork etc...

He also threw in the sleep better at night clause "as far as I know, this car hasn't been in any accidents"


If you don't feel like putting the dealer on the spot, just have someone put a paint meter on the car

with out a pic its hard to know how extreme this defect is since you didnt notice it pre-purchase.

some strads were delivered with significant factory paint repairs/flaws, i know personally of 2.

 

I have had paint imperfections on my 360, 599, and 430's. My view of the paint is that you can expect problems. The paint is just not that good. My 430 had touch ups done on it by the factory and they were obvious. The dealer is probably right.

 

I've been told several times that roughly 20% of new Ferraris are damaged in shipment from factory to port and are "touched up". Perhaps there is no actual accident history (therefore a clean Carfax) and the dealer really doesn't/didn't know about the paint.

 

A clean carfax doesnt mean its all good. If the car was damaged and repaired without making a claim, then there is no carfax record.

 

I would hope that # is a bit exaggerated.

 

Watt speaks the truth!! my Strad was one of those!! Door color didnt match, Ferrari stood behind it and fixed via factory warranty, extremely involved!!

I have even seen "running paint" on an enzo, on the side around where the indicator is.

 

Every Ferrari has paint imperfections, not sure why, Ferrari may be over looking the paint work, or the sprayer has an mind of its own..
I do not think every single car that leaves the factory is damaged at the port. If that was the case then some one is really pushing these cars really really hard..Then again its Italian made. Honestly I dont think ferrari cares about cutomer complaint over there products. All I can say is if you dont like what you get, you can always switch to Lamborghini, (hint)..

My fair thoughts if Enzo was still alive he would turn the other cheek...After all it is an Ferrari every Ferrari has problems..
