Anyone know of a good place that can rebuild the 355 a/c compressor at a good price? IF not, can this compressor be bought thru a cheaper source than Ferrari? Thanks
It is a lot cheaper replacing compressor than rebuilding them these days. I am sure there is a replacement out there that would fit your 355 and I am also sure someone here has already done this. Hopefully they will chime in some info.
Thanks ND Any clues as to which one of these compressors is for a 355 since they do not list Ferrari by mfg.??
After going to ND's link it raises another question. What type/construction of condensor does 355 use?? Evidently this determines if the system can be flushed, as some condensors have to be replaced since they are non-flushable. Has anyone flushed the a/c system on a 355?
Hey Michael, I spoke to Joe at AirOnline and he was able to match a compressor based on photos I sent him... it was for my 348 but I assume he can do the same for a 355. DF
Thanks Dan...was hoping someone had already done this before for a 355, but apparently not. Maybe someone with a 355 can answer.....also concerning condensor and system flushing.
Just in case the 355 does use the same compressor as a 348, here is the part # you need from AirOnline: SAN078099T (but you must specify a V-Flare back plate) Don't know the answer about flushing the system but I would like to know should someone know the answer! DF
Interesting. That's shown as an SD508 instead of SD709: http://www.a-aironline.com/SearchResult.aspx?KeyWords=SAN078099T
Yes... mine came with an SD508... it's possible the 348s had the 709 as well... AirOnline told me the 508 is more robust as it has steel rings as opposed to Teflon rings on the 709. I have posted pics of my old/new compressors here (http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=183682&page=6) at the bottom. You can even see on the label that the original is a 508. As mentioned before, check with Joe, he seems quite knowledgeable, he found the SAN078099T from memory... it's original equipment from a Jeep I think. A quick check on the Ricambi site shows 2 different part numbers for the compressor on the 348 and 355 but the pics look alike... it may be possible to find a replacement from AirOnline's inventory. Worth a try for 250$ I think. DF
