I was reading in the thread about schumy testing and it said "his f2008" and I was wondering did they produce a chassis for his personal use during testing? Does he use a spare car or a car Luca uses ect. I'm sure how many cars a company builds depends heavily on its budget but can someone explain how car assignments are for say Mclaren/Ferrari vs BMW or Red Bull lets say? Also do Kimi and Massa always use the same components except when they replace something? Meaning Kimi uses the same car all the time and Massa uses a different one and when they put them together at the track they never share parts ect.

    Thanks.

Kimi has his own car, his own crew chief/ race engineer (Chris Dyer, Formerly for Schumi ) and Felipe does as well (Rob Smedley) ... Each group functions as it's own team... They do not switch cars as both are customized for the driver. The car that Schumi will be testing is neither of these two cars, but the F2008 test car, which is his as he does most of the off track driver development for the company..

BTW, Luca B from what I have been told is a Georgia Tech grad...

I remember hearing that they also use different brakes which they said is causing a problem.

Yes, i think they switched to Stoptech, from Carbon Industries, for bahrain. I didn't think they wre going to continue using them though. My thought was it just had to do with the heat in the desert.

That's hilarious! StopTech crap will never be in F1.
