Do those pipes connect to the intake hose that runs to the air boxes? That is strange that it would be pulling in hot air for the intake. Or, is it directing cold air from the doors into the engine compartment for additional cooling? But they would then be directed in the wrong direction, pointing forward and all.....

Ha-ha, sorry guys, I forgot to spell check that post, spelling is not a strong point of mine.

These pipes are blanked off at the end, they look like they are designed to reduce induction noise but I’m not sure. They are connected to the plumbing that heads into the filter box. I thought they may be strange.

Well, sorta, a sewing machine??... they're to quiet the intake, alot of later factory turbo cars are using that concept.. including my Mazdaspeed turbo Miata. Its kindof a muffler for the intake... always positioned BEFORE the airbox. My 348 could use those! When my car is cold, the intake is louder than the exhaust!

Here's a pic from a factory turbo Miata... smaller obviously, but same principle...

My US 95 F335B doesn't have those, nor does it have the numbers below "Ferrari" on the airboxes that yours does. This is very intriguing, as I don't recall ever seeing these "silencers" or numbers on any car, Euro or US. They look very stock, though. Maybe it's one of a kind, or a rare prototype model! :,o

This is one of the different configurations of air induction system for F355 spiders with motronic 2.7. It is used for noise limitation. This particular configuration seems applicable for spiders outside USA, CDN and CH.

If it reduces noise, I think I may try taking my ones off. See what we get ????

I've never seen it in person but I have seen it in a pictures in "Road & Track, Ferrari F355-360-F430 Portfolio 1995-2006" on page 38 where Luca di Montezemolo asks for his car's keys back. I did a double-take too.

So that's what they are !!!! I bought a 1995 red F355 spider with similar pipes in 2007. I couldn't figure out WTF they were but I left them alone becos they looked factory installed. If they reduce noise then removing them should make the car sound louder BUT will it sound better? I have a turbi exhaust installed with F355 Race Pipes from ricambi and it sounds great!! Feedback on how the car sounds without the weird pipes pls.
