    Might need an SUV again

The R63 was a pretty sick ride but the newly redesigned Cayennes look cool too

    Anybody own either ?

R63 is a minivan, a sick one, but still a minivan... are you Ok with that? I love the R-Class, but it is what it is.

i'd go with the porsche...but I would seriously consider not buying a new one(unless u plan on leasing). Look for a certified car no matter which company you go with. There are 1 year old certified cars out there and the 1 year gives you 3 years of extra coverage.

Mercedes calls it a Sports Tourer.
Mercedes also includes it in their family of SUVs.

To a normal person, it looks like a minivan.... but it doesn't have the convenience of sliding doors...

In the movie "Game Plan", the Rock called it a "Station Wagon".... multiple times. They emphasized that a family man must trade in his sports car (SLR) to get a "Station Wagon".. (the R-Class). :)

They're not fooling anyone.. it is not an SUV or a Station Wagon... it is a minivan with doors that open like an SUV.

That being said.. the R63 AMG is sick... too much power for the narrow target demographic. I'm sure they figured it out themselves.. that's why it was discontinued... in fact, the RWD R-Class was joined by its FWD counterpart, and marked down..

Right now, they only have the 320 (CDI), 450 and 550.

Don't hold your breath for the AMG version. There's no word on it... (yet!)

Mercedes targets new niche with GL-Class; no AMG model
    http://www.leftlanenews.com/mercedes-targets-new-niche-with-gl-class-no-amg-model.html

... but some people speculate that there might be:
Benz plans a royal flush of 2006 models
    http://www.goauto.com.au/mellor/mellor.nsf/story2/2A888D7B2068B78ACA2571180017BC79
"Also expect 63 AMG versions of the R-class, SLK-class and even GL-class to appear eventually in Australia, the world’s fifth-largest AMG market."

But you can get a Brabus version of it!

As Beautiful and Unique as the G55 is , with its Live front Straight axle , It is akin to a catapillar tractors handling..
