The winner of the 2008 Ridler Award at Autorama, arguably the most prestegious custom show car award in the world is...Ferrambo, a cross between a Ferrari and an old Rambler wagon.

    WTF?

Sure, the workmanship is first rate, after all, it won the Ridler: it has to be.

But the car itself is downright ugly.

I doesn't hold a candle to the beautiful custom Chip Foose designed and won with a few years ago.

What's next, a Rolls Royce engine in a Pinto?

    Ramblurarri, like, duh!

I wouldnt normally consider something like this, but the fact the car was designed by PF kinda softens it. At least its nothing GM.

More info. I actually talked to the creator. Ricambi put me on to the project when I was looking to potentially use a 360 motor in a project car and wanted to see if a Motec system could be developed, as I was pretty sure Ferrari would not help (I was correct). These guys developed the EFI map from scratch, full custom Motec system, dyno tuned. Here is the difference as I saw it: I email him during the time he was at the show (I didn't know this). He called personally a week or so later, apologizing for the long delay (he did mention they won the top honor). He said he was happy to help in any way possible, fuel maps, tricks, anything I needed he was happy to hand over.

Whether you like the cars or not, hot-rodders are some of the nicest people on earth, and clearly do what they do out of love for the craft.

What do you mean WTF...it's hot rodding/custom car building...there are no rules.

Not exactly my or most peoples cup of tea, but you have to respect the work and vision to create somehting like this.

As an aside to all those who think a Ferrari w/o A ferrari engine is no Ferrari, what is this thing ;)

No rules, maybe, but my word, why not create something beautiful?

My point: the car is UGLY.

The Rambler wagon is, was, and always will be UGLY.

Stuff a Ferrari engine in the back, trick it all out, it still looks like it took a few hard whacks with the UGLY stick.

I guess some people never tire of trying to polish a turd.

Brilliant! I like the look of the car (front-end is alittle too narrow for my tastes, but putting the custom luggage compartment in-front where the engine 'used' to be is pure class). Glad to see a Ferrari mill put to good use (too bad about the original), I'd love to hear how the engine sounds with those custom exhaust pipes.

BTW, to all you 'critics' out there....compare the front with a bumper-less 330 GT Series II and get back to us.

I love how people get pissed off by stuff like this. I personally think its a pretty cool use of a smashed car. I mean, lets face it, with all the 360's running around these days, even pristine ones are never going to be the next 250 GTO's. Why not turn one of them into something actually unique? Love it or hate it, at least it looks to be good quality.

Who cares that they used a 360 engine. They made something high quality and that was unique. Besides, the last thing we need is one more wrecked 360 going on ebay.

I always wondered what had happened to this project after seeing the construction pics. I really like it.
But they should have used the 360 wheels or maybe a custom wheel replicating the design of the wheel

This year, its July 3rd through the 6th....anything interesting on wheels will be in-town. A Ferrari-powered Hot Rod would be HUGE here.
