What a great day... The car looked even better than I had imagined. It was a treat to see it, and to meet you and your sons (and John C). Made the drive from LA absolutely worth it... sorry my mini-emergency meant I had to pull the dino and leave early (before the awards). Thanks, too, for the goodies... the t shirts are a big hit with my wife and son, and the seat and steering wheel covers are almost too nice to use on the (my) car! Again, congratulations... amazing effort, amazing results, and a terrific day to cap it all off. Dan Rhodes (red '73 246GT, at the show)
Thank you for the fantastic "coming out" party. The car was much more spectacular in-person than pictures/text can portray it. The overcast morning light transitioned into noontime sun which played on the fine metallic in the exterior paint, causing the color and luster to have different highlights depending on when you looked at it. Simply gorgeous yet elegantly understated. I was also impressed at how much better the engine/carburettor air intakes look in person, they really show off well and you can see so much more of the engine bay (where did you get that gorgeous fuel pump?). John brought his two sons, Jeff and Ryan; both were soft spoken and polite to everyone. Jeff is in the first two photos while Ryan is in the last with the CS shirt on. The last photo also shows how generous they were to hand out free T-shirts to all the kids who came by. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I had a Dino 246GT in 1983, bought while in Italy; a dumb student. Sold in the US of A as prices climbed. Took my money and bought a house. Got married. Had kids. All that - and I remember the black/tan Dino very fondly. I have no Dino now, except my 'mental' posession of the flared little blu car with yellow eyes for which you allowed volume voyeurism. Thanks. I've read your threads with a mixture of awe, inspiration, and "What, are you nuts?" mixed in. Whatever you 'won' pales in comparison to what you've 'done' for this board, your sons, the slack-jawed particpants, competitors, and surprised attendees. From them and me: Thanks. All that this board has said to keep you encouraged is just fractional icing; your devotion to the task with photos and text to commemorate made us feel like we were part of it. Thanks. Congratulations too, by the way. I hope when you run it to redline (after proper break in!) you'll feel justified in every chill you get, one per rpm, for the delight you've shared.
Wow fellows, you just don't know how I appreciate hearing that! See OMGJON... your gift keeps giving! Thanks guys, really.
FANTASTIC!!! Though I couldn't be there in person, I was there in spirit. All weekend, I was thinking of what must be going on down there. Thanks for posting the pics and sharing. So how many Dinos made it? And what did Corbani win?
Hey Jon, What tires were on the Dinos before you got the cars? I am looking for new tires (205/70/14r) and was curious about what tires were on them. Andrew
I want to say how nice it was for you to give those shirts to kids, You probably started the next generation of F-car fanatics and I am sure those kids will never forget that blue car with the yellow headlights...
These shirts are really nice and when I arrived at Bella Italia, Jeff G was kind enough to give me one of the last in XL. John G joked about the bins he used to bring the shirts down to the event - they were the same bins which previously held all the restoration parts and were even marked as TAV 9, TAV 10, etc - Man is the John G an organized guy! As the day wore on, I wandered back and picked up another shirt in Large for Danny Z (aka Fchat name vrooom). Danny has had his Dino since 1980 and like many Dino owners in the PNW, he is "Dino crazy" - you should see the Dino posters, pamphlets, and memoralbilia that line his house. BACK IN SEATTLE Anyhow, here are two photos of Danny and I after the T-shirt handoff, we even made his wife stand on a ladder to get a better perspective! Thank you Jon, Jeff and Ryan, your generosity has really touched us all. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
And my best award from all my new friends at Ferrarichat. I feel like I know all you after all your comments over the last 2 years. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jon, Everyone felt the joy of your accomplishment and the results are stunning. But now, there is a void -- I miss checking this thread for the latest updates. You need to get started on the next one soon.
Are you still leaning towards the Titanio / Argento Nurbergring / Grigio Silverstone range of colors? It would look sweet.
