Even thought the weather wasn't perfect, the Spring Thaw was great. I like that the pavilion was closed. That allowed to have all the Ferraris lined up on the street.

As usual, the Eberts and everyone else helped put on a very nice event. It was also nice to see that there were substantially more people in attendance this year which allowed the club to take over a majority of the restaurant.

Here are just a few pictures from the day.

Remember, for anyone interested, I have 2008 daytimers with local and national events featuring all local Ferraris. Including all that participated in last year's Spring Thaw.

    regards

How do you get the pictures small enough to download? I've tried resizing and such but can't seem to get them small enough to make the cut per FChat standards. It's probably simple but I'm photographically challenged. Actually, I have a lot of challenges, this just is the latest ;-)

    Intence,

Welcome to the boards. You should consider subscribing (Silver subscription only $15) that way you can post your images and fill out your profile so we can get to know you. You have some nice shots, but rather than post 30 links (in which most people are only going to click through a few of them and then get bored) you should subscribe so you can upload your photos OR just send us the link for one webpage like Picasa that displays all your shots and allows people to either view a slideshow or pick and choose.

    Best Regards,

    Bill

    Hey Intense,

Thanks for taking the time to share your images. Out of curiosity, what lens are you using?

I like some of the distortion, its an interesting effect.

    regards

Almost seems like a very wide angle or fish eye lens! Almost got a headache looking at the pics even though some of them are very nice.

sorry, Ed; I'll be at David's Profile gathering in a few weeks. I'd love to see what you have for me!

We've made good progress on the Mondial in the last week; Michael Bayer stopped by to help us get the crankcase mated to the top of the motor - a slow, careful process making sure the o-rings at the bottom of the cylinder liners are correctly seated. Piston, con rods, crank, bearings, oil lines to the crank bearings all in. The internal plumbing for oil management is very impressive, esp for 1955; there are basically 3 oil pumps in this car (it is dry sump). Now doing the complicated gear sets at the front of the motor for driving the cams, water/oil pumps, generator and twin distributor drives - no timing chains or belts on this car. For those of you who have seen that Shell commercial w/ the progression of Ferrari formula 1 cars over the past 50 years; listen carefully to the very first car (1952-53 car) - it is a four banger - the distinctive high-pitched whine of the motor on the shot looking back at the driver is the sound made by the gears - unique to the gear-driven four cyl cars.

    enjoy;

    Hey Bryan,

You have got to start a thread on this! The pictures are enthralling and the process incredible. Thanks for sharing what you have. I would love to see a progression line of bits and pieces coming together. That's neat to see Michael taking time out of his compressed schedule to help. I know he is enjoying his time with you and the motor!

    warm regards

    ken

Wow! Straight-cut timing gears. I'll bet they do make quite a racket.
