so... even if the car is gone, shouldn't someone (say, Josh..) be getting their money back?

It's not his car. He never registered the title with his state. Essentially, he charged up a big bill to rent a Lambo for a few months. Turns out that someone else is claiming that title.

So now the dispute goes to court if he wants to claim money or car.

Somewhere in the thread someone (Roy?) said that Josh was made aware of that lawyer by other forum users. Maybe he saw a thread like "How to avoid taxes!!" and hounded every participant until one finally explained to him step-by-step what to do.

I appreciate and understand your reasonable deduction to assume the "obvious"..

But I can tell you again you are 100% incorrect... I do not know how Josh got a hold of his Lawyer in Montana or where he came up with the information, BUT again it was not from me and or anyone in my company...period!

Why do you not ask Josh what his response is to this???

After all I understand he is sending PM messages out to, so I am sure he is still following this thread...

What everyone here has missed is not that Josh asked what time to set his alarm; it's that he actually had one in the first place. I think that bears looking into.

That is one of the funniest posts of this whole thread.

And Roy yes I believe you that you didn't tell him about Mr Montana Lawyer, but someone did post the excerpt where you said 'I as many others have recommended blah blah' so that's where indeed I had read it and was just trying to clarify.

That's how it is here, too. But only when you trade with a dealer and not when you sell privately and buy another. I'd love to kick the MFer in the nuts who gave the auto dealers (and not private individuals) that exemption in Colorado.

Yes, each state is different and wierd

Washington Only pay the sales tax on the price difference on the sale of the car against the trade in, Dealer or Private Party and you can BANK your extra tax credit for up to 6 months onto another purchse.

Arizona sales tax on Dealer sold cars but none on Priavte party sales, same as Illionos I believe

California one of the WORST no credit no matter what, you pay and pay and pay each and every time you buy a car...wonder why they have so many people trying to get out of paying sales tax there...I think if they did like Washington they would collect more money..

Sales tax in Illinois is only on the value of the purchased car that exceeds the trade-in value of the trade-in. Because the car being traded in has already been taxed.

Private party sales tax get ya at the time of registration. Need proof of purchase (Bill of Sale and signed over title) and purchase price. The tax is based on the purchase price. There is no sales tax when a car changes hands between family members.

The insinuations are all over the place still, but the hard reality is if you read that thread, simply read the first post, and as of today nothing else has actually HAPPENED. So read post #1 and that's where it's at.

Maybe in 90 days there will be a resolution, probably only partly to anyone's financial satisfaction.
