I thought this was good info….Have a great day!

: FW: Get the most out of your GASOLINE!

From someone who lives in California and works in the gasoline industry:

I learned some new things....and as much as we all drive I thought this
TIPS ON PUMPING GAS I don't know what you guys are paying for
gasoline....but here in California we are also paying higher, up to $3.50 per
    gallon.

But my line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here
are some tricks to get more of your money's worth for every gallon...

Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose , CA we
deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline. One
day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular and premium
grades. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of
    16,800,000 gallons.

Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the
ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their
storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more
dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the
afternoon or in the evening....your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the
petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline,
diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important
role. A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the
service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.

When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a
fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3)stages:
low, middle, and high. In slow mode you should be pumping on low speed,
thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping.
All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate,
some other liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are
being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting
    less worth for your money.

One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is
HALF FULL or HALF EMPTY. The reason for this is, the more gas you have in your
tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster
than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof.
This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so
it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every
truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the
    exact amount.

Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage
tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up--most likely the
gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up
some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom. Hope this will help you
get the most value for your money.

DO SHARE THESE TIPS WITH OTHERS!

WHERE TO BUY USA GAS, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW.

    READ ON
Gas rationing in the 80's worked even though we grumbled about it. It might even be
good for us! The Saudis are boycotting American goods. We should return the
favor. An interesting thought is to boycott their GAS. Every time you fill up the car,
you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia. Just buy from
gas companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis.

Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill-up the tank, I am
sending my money to people who are trying to kill me, my family, and my friends.

I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies
are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle Eastern
    oil.

These companies import Middle Eastern oil:
    Shell.............................205,742,000 barrels
    Chevron/Texaco.............144,332,000 barrels
    Exxon /Mobil................. 130,082,000 barrels
    Marathon/Speedway.......117,740,000 barrels
    Amoco...........................62,231,000 barrels
Citgo gas is from South America, from a Dictator who hates Americans. If you
do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION! (oil is
    now $90 - $100 a barrel.

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:
    Sunoco..................0 barrels
    Conoco..................0 barrels
    Sinclair..................0 barrels
    BP/Phillips...............0 barrels
    Hess.....................0 barrels
    ARC0.....................0 barrels

If you go to http://www.sunoco.com/ you will get a list of the
    station locations near you.

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy
and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are
importing. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of gas
    buyers.

It's really simple to do. Now, don't wimp out at this point.... keep reading
and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I'm sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it
to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)...and those 300 send it to at least
ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) .. and so on, by the time the message
reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over
THREE MILLION consumers !!!!!!! If those three million get excited and
pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!
If it goes one level further, you guessed it ..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people.
How long would all that take?

Viral marketing at work. Saw this thread in mass junk email. Is there a box for Junk Threads? We import gas for a reason. What is thread saying, boycott all middle eastern oil? Oh, so Sunoco can then raise it's prices? Ok, will do....

As soon as I read this point I became suspect. All oil, whether it comes from the Middle East or the coast of California goes onto the world market and when it does it looses its nationality. Oil wholesale suppliers just buy barrels of oil from the cheapest source they can find.

I like the part about specific gravity though. ;)

Got the email from a friend, don't know how much of it is fact or fiction. A possible plug from Sunoco? Perhaps? But that does not mean that some of it may not be true. Hard for me to believe that Sinclair, with rigs in Wyoming and a refinery there too would send it someplace else when the market for it is here? That does'nt make any sence to me, but I'm no oil expert thats for sure. Just found it interesting.

    Cheers!

I moved to Sioux Falls SD in June '06, have a Sinclair station a few blocks from my house, & saw they were advertising that they didn't sell middle eastern products. I've been buying thier gas & other simple things, but have always been skeptic. Thanks for the info! What I've always found nice about the Sinclair station though, is this particular one also sells good wine & cigars. Quite the high class place.... ;-)

I have another email, similar to this one.....gonna find it quick & post it up here too.

This is the email I was referring to. Although a very small portion is referring to oil/fuel, the rest really hits home as well. I can't confirm the source, but I've seen/heard Robin Williams saying similar stuff? I'd love to see a president grab his balls & give this speech (Not you, Hillary Clinton). I didn't write this! ;-)

    ----- WOULDN'T IT BE
GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR ANY U.S. PRESIDENT, DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH?

My Fellow Americans: As you all know, the
defeat of the Iraq regime has been completed.

Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission
    in Iraq is complete.

This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces
from Iraq This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now time to begin the
    reckoning.

Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which
have stood by our side during the Iraq
conflict. This list is short . The United Kingdom , Spain , Bulgaria , Australia , and Poland are
some of the countries listed there.

The other list contains everyone not on the first list. Most of the world's
nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing copies of
    both lists later this evening.

Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations
on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved during the first
year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war. THEN EVERY YEAR THERE AFTER IT'll GO TO OUR SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM SO IT
WONT GO BROKE IN 20 YEARS.

The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world
Hellholes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.

Need help with a famine ? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France

In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money
toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home . On that note,
a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and
eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth.

Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France or maybe China .

I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France , Germany , and Russia
Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as well. Bonne chance, mez amies.

I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles
located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking tickets to sites where those vehicles
will be stripped, shredded and crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty
pertains to this. You creeps have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets. Pay
those tickets tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers and limos be
turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world. I love New York

A special note to our neighbors. Canada is on
List 2. Since we are likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks
might want to try not pissing us off for a change.

Mexico is also on List 2 its
president and his entire corrupt government really need an
attitude adjustment. I will have a couple extra thousand tanks and infantry
divisions sitting around. Guess where I am going to put 'em? Yep, border
    security.

Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA treaty - starting now.

We are tired of the one-way highway. Immediately, we'll be drilling for oil in Alaska - which will take
care of this country's oil needs for decades to come. If you're an
environmentalist who opposes this decision, I refer you to List 2 above: pick a
    country and move there.

It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some will accuse us of
isolationism. I answer them by saying, 'darn tootin.'

Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world
has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet. It
is time to eliminate hunger in America It is
time to eliminate home lessness in America To
the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thank you guys. We owe you and we won't
    forget.

To the nations on List 2, a final thought: You might want to learn to speak
    Arabic.

God bless America . Thank you and good night.

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank
    a soldier.

(Please forward this to at least ten friends and see what happens! Let's get
    this to every USA computer!)

The tanks are: underground, big, and once again UNDERGROUND. The temperature is not going to vary appreciably during a 24 hour cycle. That is
why your great grandfather built his fruit cellar UNDERGROUND. To keep the temperature moderated.

    Sounds like BS to me.

I can imagine pretty well, but I can't imagine how the surface area of the fuel balance changes much between 7/8 full, 1/2 full and 1/8 full.
And the surface area exposed to air is what determines the rate of evaporation.

The rest of the post? blah, blah blah

The specific gravity part has some truth to it. Where the oil comes from really does not.
