First off I did not intend a hit and run I was looking for a certain thread and MASSA SUCKS got my attention as I am a Ferrari fan. Although a great driver I was never a Senna fan, remember he crashed into Prost just to win the WC, although Prost crashed into him to do the same thing. Even Schumacher who brought so much to the team and us Ferrari fans had some un-gentlemanly moments. That said Mclaren has always been my idea of the bad guys. What I like about Massa is his passion, something I share. When he is happy or sad or mad you can tell. As much as I like Kimi I think I would like him better after a few drinks. For me a driver that has passion is way more entertaining and easy to love than a cold calculating Prost type. Just my 2 cents FWIW Rob
Senna did it to Prost after Prost did it to him the season before. A point that is conveniently forgotten by many. What is also conveniently forgotten is that Senna was wracked with remorse for years afterwards, that he reconciled with Prost publicly, and that Prost served as one of Senna's pallbearers.
For you, perhaps. Most team owners, on the other hand, would opt for the guy who can win 4 WDCs and 51 GPs...
it was a 50-50 thing. Senna had not overtaken Prost at that point of time. he just got alongside Prost, but Porst had the racing line. till today, i think it;s just a racing incident. Senna took it too personally.
Nice post, and I agree with your statements overall, but Massa just doesn't get it done in the car sometimes, that's why he gets bashed here the way he does. The cold calculating types seem to be the greats, even though i heard Piquet was good for a laugh sometimes.
You better hope he does, otherwise you will have difficulty recovering for your inept point scoring Renault.
Yeah when did Senna pullout of any race? How long you been watching F1, maybe the reason some of us prefer a Alonso or Montoya at Ferrari is that they are better drivers than Massa and better for the board. As far as a Ferrari supporter most of us on this board have been supporting Ferrari from the dark days from 1980 through 2000, so stop the nonsense that some how you are more of a Supporter than the rest of us. By the way if you don't like this thread, don't post in it.
I don't ever remember Senna pulling out of any races either. Several people feel that to support the team they have to support whatever wanker they feel like putting in the car. It is possible to love a team and hate the driver.
Well they reconciled when Prost was retired and Prost began to say nice things about Senna when he was already dead, so...
Actually they were already reconciled during the 93 season. There's footage of them shaking hands after a few races, not really chatting too much though. Senna and Prost actually started to really speak again during the weekend of the Imola GP when Senna asked to if he would help him with safety in the wake of Ratzenberger's death, acorrding to Alain.
To be honest, I remember than in 1991, after a brake test from Senna (according to the version of Prost, of course) and another exchange of accusations, they gave a press conference together to bury the hatchet.
I think that was in 1990 after the Italian GP. The Japanese GP was 3 races later and you know the rest........lol
I think your correct it was when Ferrari had introduced the 641/B chassis that Prost had a very competitve race and Senna brake tested Prost, and Prost ended up over the curbs and was seriously pissed.
Was that in Germany? Didn't Prost try to go around Senna on the outside and go off? I might have to watch that race again. I don't really remember a press conference after that but i could be wrong.
I agree with you Tony but for Ted to bet against one half of the team we all so love and now have to spend the rest of the season hoping that half the team looses is very hard to come to grips with. Im not a big fan of Kimis but I still want him to win and would neve ever make a wager against him. It makes no sense.
Senna begin to talk to Prost, like normal, i would say, the time Prost retired. he always acknowledge Prost as 'The Frenchman', but after Prost retired, he started calling prost by his name, and i remember reading somewhere the reason Senna changed his attitude towards Prost is because he's no more a rival, since he's retired, but more of a friend.
How about abandoning support for the team if you don't like a driver they hire? Where does that fit in with your logic? If you recall, the wager was offered as a direct result of a statement you made. I was interested to see if you would put your money where your mouth is. I knew you wouldn't take that wager because deep down inside you know Massa will never win 4 GPs this season. Fortunately for me, Maxorido stepped into the void you vacated. My bet is against Massa, not against Ferrari. Put Jensen Button in the car and there is no way in hell I would bet against him winning 4 GPs. I have complete faith in Ferrari, I don't in Massa. Big difference. Look on the bright side, the 10 grand is going to charity, your $100 on the other hand will go towards a nice single malt scotch
