And let's not forget that not only was the police asleep but the attitude of the public towards speed and sportscars was still positive! That is a very important component of that era that most forget. One of the things that is most precious to me is that the part of Burgundy where my parents live still has fabulous twisty roads with almost no trafic and zero police presence, where I have done many hundreds of thousands of miles flat out on the limit day and night starting at the age of 14, always respecting the few other road users of course, never getting anyone annoyed. Apart from the Apennes in Italy, Scotland there are not many places left where you can still really drive so seeing this Ghibli film segment is special in many ways...!
Can`t agree more! I was in 1973 with the Miura SV of my father in Southern France....and it was wonderful! Ciao! Walter
The film had Vittorio Gassman and Ugo Tognazi, as the main actors and not Jean Louis Trintignant. Gassman is accused of raping and killing the girl, and as he is a very unpleasant character the judge who leads the investigation believes he is guilty. Later in the film he founds out that Gassman is not guilty, but as he disliked so much the character he ignores or hides the facts that will tell that he is innocent. The name of the film, although I am not sure is: in Italian:" In nome del popolo italiano" and in french is something like this: Enquete sur un citoyen au dessus de tout soupcon - but I am not sure. I have been trying to get the film, can't find it.
Hello Walter, It wasn't sold to me. The picture was stamped that way. Unfortunately it was broken for spares by http://www.eurospares.co.uk/breaking2.asp?page=41. I don't why if the body was in this condition. Maybe most parts had been removed when they got to it. They could give you the chassis no. for your registry. Did you ever sell the Ghibli project car? Rgds, David
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067242/ Never heard of that one: it is fascinating how many movies come up with great content and nice use of interesting cars: my fasvorite is spirits of the dead -though it is a Fantuzzi bodied Ferrari, not a Maser then there was one Italian movie which used an Alfa 33 Stradale.
Ghibli-Spyders are soooo elegant cars! Do you have other photos of it that shows the dash under the frontscreen on the drivers side as there is the VIN-plate located? Ciao! Walter
The German Maseraticlub thought this spider 1253 spent some time in Sweden. Do anybody knows if that is right.I lives in Sweden ,i have seen 8 different spiders in Sweden and know about 4 more. Best regards Magnus Andersson

Yes, the first four Ghibli-Spyder are all residing in the US today. Interesting is that #075, #149 and #169 are not listed (aka existing!) in the Factory records - but those cars in fact are existing as Spyders. I assume this 3 cars are pre-production Spyders made by them. The first official car (#1001) was in 1998 with John Ferro in CT/USA. #1005 was the first official 4.9-Spyder and is now in France. Ciao!
